The Mall at Rockingham Park is the largest shopping mall in the state of New Hampshire, [1] with 1,024,171 square feet (95,148.6 m2) of floor space. The mall is located in the town of Salem, about 30 miles (48 km) north of Boston. [2] The mall is adjacent to Interstate 93 and the former Rockingham Park race track in Salem, and was the state's third shopping mall to be built. The mall now hosts 144 stores, with Lord & Taylor, Macy's, JCPenney, and Dick's Sporting Goods as anchors with one vacant anchor last occupied by Sears. The mall is managed by Simon Property Group, which owns 28.2% of it. As of March 2015, the mall was Simon's highest grossing center, with annual sales of $2,105 per square foot. [3]

Salem is a town in Rockingham County, New Hampshire, United States. The population was 28,776 at the 2010 census. Being located on Interstate 93 as the first town in New Hampshire, which lacks any state sales tax, Salem has grown into a commercial hub, anchored by the Mall at Rockingham Park. Other major sites include the Canobie Lake Park, a large amusement park, and America's Stonehenge, a stone structure of disputed origins. It is the former home of Rockingham Park, a horse racetrack. The Sununu political family hails from Salem, including former New Hampshire governor and White House Chief of Staff John H. Sununu, and his sons John E. Sununu, a former U.S. Senator, and Chris Sununu, current New Hampshire governor.

Interstate 93 (I-93) is an Interstate Highway in the New England region of the United States. It begins in Canton, Massachusetts, in the Boston metropolitan area, at I-95; and ends near St. Johnsbury, Vermont, at I-91. It is one of three mainline Interstate highways located wholly within New England, the other two being I-89 and I-91. The largest cities along its route are Manchester, New Hampshire and Boston, Massachusetts. It also passes through the New Hampshire state capital of Concord.

Like the Pheasant Lane Mall in Nashua, the Mall at Rockingham Park is located close to the Massachusetts state line and draws many customers from that state. New Hampshire has no sales tax on most goods. The success of the Mall at Rockingham Park, which opened in August 1991, caused the Methuen Mall across the line in Methuen, Massachusetts, to close in 1997;[ citation needed ] it was replaced with The Loop, a "big box"-style center. The Mall at Rockingham Park also caused the adjacent (and older) Rockingham Mall to convert into a "big box" center, as Salem could no longer support two shopping malls. In 2006, the mall's original Macy's store (formerly Jordan Marsh) was closed with all Filene's converting into Macy's.

Pheasant Lane Mall

Pheasant Lane Mall, occupying 979,426 square feet (90,991.7 m2), is one of the largest shopping malls in the state of New Hampshire and the focal point of the commercial area in south Nashua.

Nashua is a city in Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, United States. As of the 2010 census, Nashua had a population of 86,494, making it the second-largest city in the state after Manchester. As of 2017 the population had risen to an estimated 88,341.

In 2011, Lord & Taylor renovated and converted the former Macy's space, opening its first New Hampshire store in March, 2012. [4] In 2015, Dick's Sporting Goods took over Sears' second floor as part of a deal with the company. It was one of 235 properties spun off from Sears Holdings into Seritage Growth Properties in 2015. [5] [6] Dick's opened October 2015.

Sears Holdings Corporation is an American holding company headquartered in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. It was the parent company of the chain stores Kmart and Sears and was founded after Kmart purchased Sears in 2005; it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2018 and sold its assets to the ESL Investments in 2019. It was the 20th-largest retailing company in the United States in 2015.

In November 2018, Sears closed as one of 46 stores nationwide. [7] [8] Cinemark Theatres expects to build a movie theater on the Seritage site.

Cinemark USA, Inc. is an American movie theater chain owned by Cinemark Holdings, Inc. operating throughout the Americas and in Taiwan. It is headquartered in Plano, Texas, in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. It is the largest movie theatre chain in Brazil, with a 30 percent market share.

Design

Internal design

The center of the Mall at Rockingham Park is a circular walkway on both floors. In the center of this circle, there is a staircase to travel between floors. From this center, there are two major corridors at approximately a 140° angle. The longer corridor, which goes almost due north of the center, leads to Dick's Sporting Goods at the end, and the entrance to JCPenney partway along the corridor. The shorter corridor leads southeast, with Macy's at the end of this corridor. The central circle also connects to a food court.

Parking and surrounding roads

Route 38 surrounds most of the Mall at Rockingham Park. From Route 38, there are several entrances. Exit 1 northbound on Interstate 93 has a ramp that provides quick access to the mall; southbound, Exit 1 also provides access, but it is not as direct.

New Hampshire Route 38 is an 8.7-mile-long (14.0 km) north–south state highway in extreme southern New Hampshire. It is the main road connecting Pelham with Salem.

Between the mall and Route 38 to the east is a parking lot with two levels. The upper level provides access to all parts of the mall. A smaller parking lot on the southwest side of the mall leads to the southern half; there is another lot north of Dick's Sporting Goods and one east of Route 38 that was intended for the now-defunct racetrack. The parking lot north of Dick's Sporting Goods has a former Sears Auto Center separate from the rest of the mall.

Danbury Fair (shopping mall)

Danbury Fair Mall is an upscale shopping mall in Danbury, Connecticut. As of 2011, it is the second largest shopping mall in Connecticut as well as the fifth largest in New England. It is located off of Interstate 84 and U.S. Route 7 opposite the Danbury Municipal Airport. The mall anchors are JCPenney, Lord & Taylor, Macy's, Primark, and Sears. The junior anchors are Dick's Sporting Goods, Forever 21, The Cheesecake Factory, Brio Tuscan Grille, and L.L.Bean.

Northridge Mall

Northridge Mall, located in Salinas, California, serves as Monterey County's largest shopping mall. The single-story structure encompasses 976,913 sq ft (90,758 m2) of retail space and features more than 110 shops, two restaurants, a fast-food court with eight outlets, and four department stores including Sears, JCPenney, Macy's, and Forever 21. There are approximately 3,000 spaces in the open-air parking lot.

Southridge Mall (Wisconsin)

Southridge Mall is a regional shopping mall located in the Milwaukee County suburbs of Greendale and Greenfield, Wisconsin. At 1,177,783 square feet it is tied with the Fox River Mall in Grand Chute as the largest mall in the state. The mall is anchored by JCPenney and Macy's. The third anchor, Sears closed in September 2017, The fourth anchor, Kohl's relocated to a mixed use development on September 29, 2018, and the fifth anchor Boston Store closed in Summer 2018 as parent company Bon-Ton went out of business. The former Sears will be replaced by Dick's Sporting Goods, Golf Galaxy, Round One Entertainment bowling alley, and TJ Maxx.

Mall at Fox Run

Mall at Fox Run, formerly Fox Run Mall, is a shopping mall in Newington, New Hampshire, just north of Portsmouth. Its main anchor stores include JCPenney, Macy's Men's & Home Store, Macy's Women's, and Sears. At 603,618 square feet (56,077.9 m2), it is New Hampshire's fourth largest mall, with 84 shops, all on one level. Completed in 1983, this mall functioned mainly as a successor to the smaller and dated Newington Mall, which has since been converted into a big box retail center.

Solano Town Center, formerly Solano Mall and Westfield Solano, is a shopping mall in Fairfield, California, United States and is owned by Starwood Retail Partners. Its three anchor stores are JCPenney, Macy's and Best Buy. There is also an Edwards Cinemas multiplex located above the Best Buy anchor. Mervyn's was the mall's fifth anchor store until they went out of business in 2008. Forever 21 moved into the upper level of the former Mervyn's in 2010. Sports Authority moved into the lower level of the former Mervyn's in 2011, which closed when that chain went out of business in 2016. The space has since been taken by Dick's Sporting Goods in 2017. Great Lakes Mall is a shopping mall in Mentor, Ohio on Mentor Avenue, approximately 20 miles (32 km) northeast of Cleveland. It has 130 stores. The mall includes stores such as Macy's, J.C. Penney, and Dillard's. A Dick's Sporting Goods store was added with new construction in 2014. The mall now has around 150 stores. The mall was opened in 1961 as a shopping strip. Later, the mall was expanded to become one of the oldest major enclosed shopping malls in Ohio. Olive Garden, BJ's Brewhouse, Office Max, Max & Erma's, Barnes & Noble and Atlas Cinemas Stadium 16 are in the mall parking lot. The mall contains about 1 million square feet. On May 28, 2014 it was announced by Simon Property Group that they would transfer Great Lakes Mall to its new spin off Washington Prime Group. Washington Prime Group later became WP Glimcher. In 2015, Sears Holdings spun off 235 of its properties, including the Sears at Great Lakes Mall, into Seritage Growth Properties. Dillard's North closed in May 2017, consolidating the men and women's sections into one building. Sears closed in September 2017 due to the store's lease ended.

Meadowood Mall is a one-level, 899,798-square-foot (83,594.0 m2) super-regional mall in Reno, Nevada, managed by Simon Property Group, which owns 50% of it. Meadowood Mall contains 125 retailers and restaurants and it is anchored by Macy's Women, Macy's Men/Home, JCPenney, and Dick's Sporting Goods.

Deptford Mall

The Deptford Mall is a major shopping mall in Deptford Township, Gloucester County, New Jersey, United States. It is the seventh largest mall in the state of New Jersey. Owned and managed by Macerich, it is the county's only indoor regional shopping center. The mall is anchored by Boscov's, JCPenney, and Macy's and has over 160 stores. The mall is located off of Route 42 and Route 55 at County Route 544. The mall has a gross leasable area of 1,040,000 sq ft (97,000 m2), making it the largest mall in the Gloucester County region, and placing it in the top eleven among the largest shopping malls in New Jersey.

Arrowhead Towne Center is a super-regional shopping mall located in Glendale, Arizona. The mall is managed by the Macerich Company. It is anchored by Macy's, Sears, Dillard's, JCPenney, Forever 21, Dick's Sporting Goods, and AMC Theatres and is home to 180 tenants. It is currently the only enclosed shopping mall in Phoenix's western suburbs and also draws people from all over Phoenix.

Inland Center is a regional shopping mall owned and operated by Macerich, located in San Bernardino, California along the southwest border adjacent to Interstate 215 and the city of Colton. Within one mile of three bordering cities on the southern end of San Bernardino, Inland Center is a single level mall anchored by Macy's, Sears, Forever 21, and JCPenney plus 110 specialty shops and services.

Oakland Mall is an enclosed super-regional shopping mall located in the city of Troy, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. It is located in the northwest corner of the intersection of 14 Mile and John R. roads, adjacent to Interstate 75. Greenwood Park Mall is a shopping mall located in Greenwood, Indiana. The mall is the hub of the retail and commercial corridor along U.S. Highway 31 on the south side of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Area. Baybrook Mall

Woodland Hills Mall is a 1+ million square foot, super regional shopping mall located at 7021 S. Memorial Drive in Tulsa, Oklahoma, United States. It was originally developed by Homart Development Company, and opened in August 1976. Today, the mall is owned by Simon Property Group. Woodland Hills Mall features 146 specialty shops and restaurants, 80 of which are unique to the Tulsa area.

Coastland Center is a shopping mall located in Naples, Florida. Opened in 1976, it features Macy's, JCPenney, and Dillard's as its anchors. It hosts a food court and many other specialty stores. The food court is a main attraction along with a carousel. The mall itself is situated on just one floor, but all of the anchor stores have two floors.

Tyrone Square Mall is an enclosed shopping mall in St. Petersburg, Florida. Opened in 1972, it features Dick's Sporting Goods, Dillard's, DSW, J. C. Penney, Macy's, and PetSmart as its anchor stores.
