Metallica concert chronology

American heavy metal band Metallica toured throughout 2021 and 2022 in support of the 30th anniversary of their fifth and self-titled studio album Metallica , [1] the 40th anniversary of the band, [2] and in continuation of the WorldWired Tour. [3] It was their first tour after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Contents

It kicked off on September 16, 2021, in San Francisco. The 2022 portion of the tour was titled the Return Of The European Summer Vacation. [4] [5]

Their June 29, 2022 show for Frauenfeld Rocks in Switzerland was cancelled when a member of the band tested positive for COVID-19. [6]

The setlist has varied from show to show. They have played some of their hits, such as "Nothing Else Matters", "Enter Sandman", "One" and "Master of Puppets", as well surprises such as "Metal Militia". [7] [8]

Anthrax is an American thrash metal band from New York City, formed in 1981 by rhythm guitarist Scott Ian and bassist Dan Lilker. The group is considered one of the leaders of the thrash metal scene from the 1980s and is part of the "Big Four" of the genre, along with Metallica, Megadeth and Slayer. They were also one of the first thrash metal bands to emerge from the East Coast. The band's current lineup consists of Scott Ian, drummer Charlie Benante, bassist Frank Bello, vocalist Joey Belladonna and lead guitarist Jonathan Donais. Anthrax's lineup has changed numerous times over their career, leaving Ian as the only constant member of the band. Kim Bendix Petersen, better known by his stage name King Diamond, is a Danish rock musician. As a vocalist, he is known for his powerful and wide-ranging countertenor singing voice, in particular his far-reaching falsetto screams. He is the lead vocalist and lyricist for both Mercyful Fate and the eponymous King Diamond. He also plays keyboards and guitars on studio recordings but uses live shows to focus solely on his vocal performance. Diamond is renowned for his dark lyrical content and his story concepts. He is also known for his distinctive shock stage persona. He has been an influence for other rock and metal artists, including Metallica, Slayer and Cradle of Filth.

Burton also received a posthumous writing credit on ...And Justice for All (1988) for the song "To Live Is to Die".

Exodus is an American thrash metal band formed in 1979 in Richmond, California. Their current lineup consists of guitarists Gary Holt and Lee Altus, bassist Jack Gibson, drummer Tom Hunting, and lead vocalist Steve "Zetro" Souza. There are no original members left in Exodus other than Hunting, who has departed from the band twice, in 1989 and 2004, but rejoined in 2007. Damaged Justice was the fourth concert tour by the American heavy metal band Metallica. It began on September 11, 1988, and ended on October 8, 1989. The name is believed to be inspired either by the cover of its fourth studio album ...And Justice for All, or by the song "Damage, Inc." from the group's previous album, Master of Puppets. The single "One" was released during the tour.

The Summer Sanitarium Tour was a music event led by American heavy metal band Metallica. The first edition took place during the summer of 2000, with 20 shows in the United States. A second edition was held during the summer of 2003, with 21 shows in North America. The tour was sponsored by MTV and Mars Music and promoted by SFX Concerts.

Wherever We May Roam was a concert tour by the American heavy metal band Metallica in support of their eponymous fifth studio album. It began in autumn of 1991. The North American legs ran through summer 1992, followed by the Guns N' Roses/Metallica Stadium Tour, the Wherever We May Roam European leg, and finally the Nowhere Else to Roam tour of smaller markets in North America, Mexico, Asia, Australia, South America, Europe and Israel, ending in the summer of 1993.

The World Tour was a co-headlining concert tour by English rock band Def Leppard and American rock band Mötley Crüe, which took place from February through November 2023 in venues across Latin America, Europe, North America, Asia and Oceania. During their previous tour, The Stadium Tour, the members of Def Leppard indicated that a European version of The Stadium Tour would take place in 2023.
