Michel Tresor Komesha Tornéus (born 26 May 1986) is a Swedish former long jumper. [2] [3]
He competed at the 2009 European Indoor Championships, the 2009 World Championships and the 2010 World Indoor Championships without reaching the final. [4]
He made a name for himself in 2005 at 19 years of age when he jumped 7.94 meters, just 1 cm short of the Swedish junior record. [3] He set a personal best jump of 8.11 metres in June 2009 at Ullevi. [4]
He was first in the long jump for Sweden in the 2010 European Team Championships First League section and went on to finish ninth in the event final at the 2010 European Athletics Championships. He started his 2011 indoor season in strong form, taking four straight wins, including a personal best of 8.13 m to win in front of a home crowd at the XL Galan. [5]
He won his first senior medal in 2012, a bronze at the 2012 European Athletics Championships in Helsinki. He then finished one centimetre behind a medal in the long jump at the 2012 Summer Olympics.
He began 2013 in fine form breaking the Swedish indoor long jump record. He competed at the 2013 European Athletics Indoor Championships on home soil in Gothenburg, jumping a new national record of 8.27 metres in the first round, before jumping 8.29 metres in the final round, only two centimetres behind winner Aleksandr Menkov.
At the 2015 European Athletics Indoor Championships Tornéus won his first international gold medal, after beating the Swedish indoor record in the final. [6]
At the 2017 World Championships in Athletics held in London, he obtained the 8th place in the men's long jump event, clearing 8.18 metres. [7]

His father was born in Democratic Republic of Congo and his mother is from the Finnish (Meänkieli) speaking region of Torne Valley in Sweden. Tornéus' original athletics club is the Tullinge-Tumba finska förening ( Finnish association of Tullinge-Tumba ) track and field program. [2]
Carolina Evelyn Klüft is a retired Swedish track and field athlete who competed in the heptathlon, pentathlon, long jump and triple jump. She was an Olympic Champion, having won the heptathlon title in 2004. She was also a three-time World heptathlon champion, World Indoor pentathlon champion, a two-time European heptathlon champion and a two-time European Indoor pentathlon champion. Klüft is the only athlete ever to win three consecutive world titles in the heptathlon. She was unbeaten in 22 heptathlon and pentathlon competitions from 2002 to 2007, her entire combined events career as a senior athlete, winning nine consecutive gold medals in major championships.
Christian Olsson is a former Swedish athlete competing in high jump and triple jump. He won an Olympic gold medal, one gold and one silver medal in the World Championships and two gold medals in the European Championships as well as a further two golds in the World Indoor championships. He also won the overall IAAF Golden League jackpot in 2004 where he cashed in 500,000 US dollars.
Jaakko Tommi Kristian Evilä is a Finnish former long jumper. He gained fame following his surprise bronze in the 2005 Helsinki World Championships, which was Finland's only medal in the championships.

Enezaide do Rosário da Vera Cruz Gomes is a Portuguese retired athlete who competed primarily in long jump. Born in São Tomé and Príncipe, she moved to Lisbon when she was 11 and began formally practising athletics when she was 13. She initially competed at international events as a representative of São Tomé and Príncipe before becoming a naturalised citizen of Portugal in 2001. Prior to changing her nationality, she set a São Toméan national record in every type of event she competed in at the international level, including women's 100 metres hurdles, long jump, high jump, triple jump, shot put, javelin throw, pentathlon, and heptathlon. She also holds the Portuguese national records in women's long jump, high jump, pentathlon, and heptathlon. At the club level, she represented Sporting CP and was coached by Abreu Matos.
László Szalma is a retired Hungarian long jumper. He won six medals at the European Indoor Championships—two gold, three silver and one bronze—and finished fourth at the 1980 Olympic Games and the 1983 World Championships. His career best jump of 8.30 metres, achieved in July 1985 in Budapest, is the current Hungarian record.
Gyula Pálóczi was a Hungarian athlete who specialized in the long jump and triple jump. He won two medals at the European Indoor Championships, and due to his versatility the European Athletic Association has called him "the most successful jumper Hungary has ever produced".
Andrew Howe is an American-born Italian athlete who specializes in the long jump and sprinting. He won this event as well as the 200 metres at the 2004 World Junior Championships. He was successful at senior level at a young age, winning a long jump bronze at the 2006 IAAF World Indoor Championships before becoming the European Champion later that year. In 2007 he became the European Indoor Champion and won the silver medal at the 2007 World Championships in Athletics.
Ndiss Kaba Badji is a Senegalese athlete who competes in the long jump and triple jump. He is the Senegalese record holder for triple jump, with 17.07 metres, which he achieved when he won the 2008 African Championships. He has a personal best long jump of 8.32 metres, achieved in October 2009 in Beirut, which won him the silver medal at the 2009 Jeux de la Francophonie.
Teddy Tamgho is a French triple jumper and long jumper. He specialises in the triple jump. He is the former triple jump world indoor record holder, achieved in winning the final and gold medal at the 2011 European Indoor Championships. He is the world's sixth best ever triple jumper outdoors, with his best mark of 18.04 metres achieved in winning the final and gold medal at the 2013 World Championships.

Fabrizio Donato is an Italian former athlete who competed in the triple jump and occasionally in the long jump. He is known for winning gold medals at the 2001 Mediterranean Games and the 2009 European Indoor Championships, the latter in a new championship record of 17.59 metres. He is the Italian record holder with 17.60 metres outdoor and 17.73 indoor.

The men's long jump competition at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil was held at the Olympic Stadium between 12 and 13 August. Thirty-two athletes from 23 nations competed. The event was won by 1cm by Jeff Henderson of the United States, the nation's first gold medal in the event since 2004 and 22nd overall. Luvo Manyonga won South Africa's second silver medal in the men's long jump. Defending champion Greg Rutherford of Great Britain took bronze, becoming the tenth man to win a second medal in the event.
