Mo Jamil Adeniran (born 25 September 1995) is an English singer. He rose to fame after winning the sixth series of The Voice UK , where he won a recording contract with Polydor Records. His debut album, titled Evolve, charted at number 36 on the UK Albums Chart. [1]

Early life

Before auditioning for The Voice UK, Jamil was a hotel worker. [2] [3] He is from Warrington and is of Yoruba descent. [4] [5]

Career

2017: The Voice UK

Adeniran auditioned for The Voice UK , and joined Jennifer Hudson's team, [6] after receiving a turn from each coach. He won his battle round against Diamond, and later went through to the live shows. He was automatically safe in the first two live shows, and was announced as the winner in the grand final on 2 April 2017. [7]

2018–present: Evolve

On 30 March 2018 Jamil released his debut studio album, Evolve. [8] The album peaked at 36 on the UK Albums Chart. [1] Following this, Jamil was dropped from Polydor Records. [9] [10]

The Voice UK is a British singing competition television series. Created by John de Mol, it premiered on BBC One during the spring television cycle on 24 March 2012. Based on the original The Voice of Holland, and part of The Voice franchise, it has aired eleven series and aims to find currently unsigned singing talent contested by aspiring singers, drawn from public auditions. The winners receive a recording contract with Universal Music Group. Winners of the eleven series have been: Leanne Mitchell, Andrea Begley, Jermain Jackman, Stevie McCrorie, Kevin Simm, Mo Adeniran, Ruti Olajugbagbe, Molly Hocking, Blessing Chitapa, Craig Eddie and Anthonia Edwards.

Pat Byrne is an Irish singer songwriter from Borris, County Carlow. In 2012, Byrne was crowned the winner of the first series of The Voice of Ireland, which led to the release of his debut album, "All or Nothing." In January 2019, Byrne emigrated to Austin, Texas, after several previous visits to the city that included recording sessions for the album Rituals, released in October 2018. Byrne had well-received performances in 2019 at the 30A Festival, SXSW, Kerrville Folk Festival and Nashville's Americana Festival. In July 2021, Byrne released his third album, "Into the Light."

His debut single, "Lost Stars", was released the day following his win, peaking at number one on the Scottish Singles Chart and number six on the UK Singles Chart. After winning The Voice, he performed at T in The Park in 2015.

The Voice UK is a British television music competition to find new singing talent. The sixth series began airing on 7 January 2017, with Emma Willis hosting the main show, and Cel Spellman presenting online spin-off show The V Room. It is the first series to air on ITV since its move from BBC One. will.i.am returned for his sixth series as a coach, Sir Tom Jones also returned to the show after a series hiatus, replacing Paloma Faith, and Jennifer Hudson and Gavin Rossdale joined as new coaches on the show, replacing Boy George and Ricky Wilson. Mo Adeniran won the competition, marking Jennifer Hudson's first and only win as a coach. Additionally, JHud became the first new coach to win on her first attempt, as well as, the first female coach to win a series of the show.

Matthew James Terry is an English singer and songwriter. In 2016, he was crowned as the winner of the thirteenth series of The X Factor. His debut single, "When Christmas Comes Around", which was released on 11 December 2016, peaked at number three on the UK Singles Chart. His debut album, Trouble was released on 24 November 2017 and charted at 29 on the UK Albums Chart.

The Voice UK is a British television music competition to find new singing talent. The seventh series began airing on 6 January 2018 and concluded on 7 April 2018. It was presented by Emma Willis on ITV. will.i.am, Jennifer Hudson and Sir Tom Jones return for their seventh, second and sixth series, respectively, with Olly Murs replacing Gavin Rossdale as a new coach for the series. Previous runner-up Jamie Miller replaced Cel Spellman as the presenter of companion show, The V Room, broadcast through the ITV Hub.

Ruti Olajugbagbe is an English singer-songwriter. After winning the seventh series of The Voice UK, she released her debut EP Racing Cars in 2019.

Molly Hocking is an English singer. In 2019, she won the eighth series of The Voice UK, winning a recording contract with Polydor Records. Her winning single, a cover of "I'll Never Love Again", reached number 73 on the UK Singles Chart.
