Morebilus is a genus of spiders in the family Trochanteriidae found in southern and western Australia, first described by Norman I. Platnick in 2002. These are large spiders, with the carapace of males ranging from 10 to 16 millimeters and those of females ranging from 10 to 24 millimeters. [2] They look similar to members of Rebilus , especially the spinneret and tarsal claw, but members of this genus have an inclined lip at the anterior edge of the sternum as well as a pair of enlarged sclerites on the coxal glands. [2]

They are found across Australia and New Zealand, with some species occupying the Auckland Islands and one found exclusively on Snares Island. There are eight species currently described within the genus, the earliest noted being the type species Clynotis severus, first described in Queensland, New South Wales, Australia in 1879 by Ludwig Carl Christian Koch. Hemicloea is a genus of South Pacific flat spiders that was first described by Tamerlan Thorell in 1870. Originally placed with the ground spiders, it was moved to the Trochanteriidae in 2018.
