Morning Star Higher Secondary School, Gudalur, Tamil Nadu, India, is a co-educational institution established on 25 May 1991, under the management of CMI (Carmelites of Mary Immaculate) fathers of St. Thomas Provinces, Kozhikode. [1] [2]

Morning Star School has an idyllic setting, nestled in the green hills of the Nilgiris at the foothills of the Western Ghats, surrounded by tea and coffee plantations. The school is on the border of three southern states and is accessible from Coimbatore, Ooty, Bangalore, Mysore, and Kozhikode. It is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. The school has its humble beginning with a number of 7 staff and 70 students, which has zoomed to 73 staff members, and school strength scaled to 1460 students as of date.

The foundation stone was laid by Rev Fr Joseph Mattom CMI, then Provincial, on 8 December 1990, blessed by Mar Jacob Thumkuzhy - then Bishop of Mananthavady, and inaugurated by Mar Aruldas James, then Bishop of Ooty on 25 May 1991. Since then Morning Star Higher Secondary School has been standing strong for 30 years now. We take the modesty to say that we did our best to do as we had planned and we are proud of our students and teachers who strive hard to achieve beyond expectation.

The Nilgiris district is one of the 38 districts in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Nilgiri is the name given to a range of mountains spread across the borders among the states of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala. The Nilgiri Hills are part of a larger mountain chain known as the Western Ghats. Their highest point is the mountain of Doddabetta, height 2,637 m.
