Lieutenant-General (retd) Munir Hafiez (born March 1949) is a retired Pakistan Army general and the former chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) of the Government of Pakistan. Before his appointment in 2001, he served in the Pakistani Army for 38 years.

Military career

Hafiez was commissioned in the 39th PMA Long Course in October 1969[ citation needed ]. He also stayed GOC 7th Infantry Division at Peshawar and as Commander[ citation needed ], XXXI Corps at Bahawalpur from August 2000 to October 2001[ citation needed ].

NAB chairman

He was replaced by Lt. Gen. Shahid Aziz after completing a controversial four-year tenure at NAB from October 2001 to October 2005. [2]

Later work

He has served as managing director and CEO of Fauji Fertilizer Company Limited. [3] He has also served as Vice President of Zindagi Trust, a private organization. [4]

His last post in the Army was serving as the commander of the XI Corps, fighting TTP forces in the North-West Pakistan region from 2007 to 2010. He also held the post of Colonel commandant of the Punjab Regiment from March 2008 to April 2010. Syed Asim Munir Ahmed Shah,NI(M)HI(M) is a Pakistani general and the current Chief of Army Staff since 29 November 2022. Before becoming the army chief, he was posted at the GHQ as Quartermaster general. He commanded the XXX Corps in Gujranwala from 17 June 2019 to 6 October 2021. He served as the 28th Director-General of the ISI until he was replaced by lieutenant general Faiz Hameed on 16 June 2019. Munir received the Sword of Honour for his performance as a cadet in the Officers Training School (OTS), Mangla.

Naeem Khalid Lodhi is a retired three-star rank general who after retirement has also served as the Federal Minister for National Security, Minister for Defence Production, CEO Fauji Fertilizer Company.

Nazir Ahmed Butt is a retired lieutenant general in the Pakistan Army who served as the 30th president of the National Defence University from 11 April 2016 to 19 December 2016. He also served as Pakistan's military attaché in the US, and military secretary to the prime minister of Pakistan. On 4 March 2023, the government appointed him chairman of the National Accountability Bureau.
