Murray Town is a locality in the Mid North of South Australia east of the lower Flinders Ranges. [4] It was settled in 1883 and served as a rest stop for bullock and horse teams carting grain towards Port Germein from further north and east. [5]
The town was named for Alexander Murray, who introduced the Murray Merino sheep breed. [5]
The annual spring Murray Town Auction no longer takes place. Ending in 2016, due to difficulties in getting volunteers. The hotel which is listed on maps has not been open for many many years.
The City of Whyalla is a local government area in South Australia, located at the north-east corner of the Eyre Peninsula. It was established in 1970, replacing the town commission, which had been running the town previously. The district is mostly industrial, with many large companies having factories in the city.

Galga is a settlement in the northern Murray Mallee region of South Australia. The town of Galga was surveyed in 1915 after the Waikerie railway line from Karoonda to Waikerie was opened in 1914. The line was shortened to Galga in 1990, and closed completely in 1994. There is a small bulk grain silo at Galga, but it is no longer regularly used. Galga has an active Country Fire Service brigade with one fire truck.
