Hilversum is a city and municipality in the province of North Holland, Netherlands. Located in the heart of the Gooi, it is the largest urban centre in that area. It is surrounded by heathland, woods, meadows, lakes and smaller towns. Hilversum is part of the Randstad, one of the largest conurbations in Europe, and the Amsterdam metropolitan area; it is about 22 km southeast of Amsterdam's city centre and about 15 km north of Utrecht.
The Dutch public broadcasting system is a group of organizations that are responsible for public service television and radio broadcasting in the Netherlands. It is composed of the Nederlandse Publieke Omroep (NPO) foundation, which acts as its governing body, and a number of public broadcasters. The Dutch Media Act 2008 regulates how air time is divided and puts the administration of the public broadcasting system in the hands of the NPO Board of Directors.
Radio 538 is a Dutch commercial radio station that was founded in Hilversum, Netherlands in 1992. It is the second-most listened to radio station in the Netherlands. Radio 538 refers to the wavelength on which Radio Veronica used to broadcast in the 1970s. The station is owned by Talpa Network. Mostly targeting a young audience, the station plays a mix of music from the decades 1980s to today, currently genres were dance, R&B, pop, and rock music. The music selection is mainly based on the Dutch Top 40 chart. Its breakfast and drive-time shows are talk-intensive.
NPO 1 is the first national television station in the Netherlands. It launched on 2 October 1951. It provides public broadcasting and currently exists next to sister channels NPO 2 and NPO 3. Several broadcasting organisations of the Publieke Omroep deliver a wide variety of programs for the channel, usually for larger audiences. In 2018, it was the most viewed channel in the Netherlands, reaching a market share of 22.0%.
TROS, originally an acronym for Televisie Radio Omroep Stichting, was a Dutch television and radio organisation part of the Dutch public broadcasting system. This broadcasting association was particularly well known for its entertainment programmes, quizzes and focus on Dutch folk music in programmes like Tros Muziekfeest op het Plein and the digital channel TROS Sterren TV.
NPO 3FM is a Dutch rhythmic CHR radio station controlled by public broadcaster NPO. The vast majority of the songs played on-air are rock, alternative, indie and pop, though dance and Mega Top 30 tracks may also air at times.
The Top 2000 is an annual Dutch marathon radio programme that plays the 2,000 most popular songs listeners have deemed the best of all time. The show runs 24 hours a day, starting Christmas and ending on New Year's Eve, functioning as a countdown to the new year. The show is hosted by national public radio station NPO Radio 2. A significant part of the population of the Netherlands listens to the broadcast each year; during the 2019 edition, NPO Radio 2 had a national radio market share of 17.7 percent. In regard of its popularity and notoriety, the show is often called de lijst der lijsten, the chart of charts.

NPO Radio 5 is a Dutch public-service network radio station operated by NPO. Its main format is classic hits from the 1950s and beyond, with a much stronger emphasis from the 1960s to 1980s. Very rarely, songs from the late-1940s may air at times. The service targets 55-year-olds and older, in contrast to that of Radio 2 (35–55) and 3FM (15–35). Every year towards the end of November, NPO Radio 5 broadcasts "The Evergreen Top 1000".
NPO 1 Extra is a television channel jointly operated by Dutch public broadcasters AVROTROS, BNNVARA, EO, KRO-NCRV and MAX. It was originally launched as HilversumBest on 1 December 2006. NPO 1 Extra presents highlights of more than sixty years of Dutch television history. The channel was founded by Han Peekel.
NPO 2 Extra is a 24-hour public television channel from the NPO, devoted to documentaries, art and culture. Most programmes are supplied by NTR, AVROTROS, BNNVARA, KRO-NCRV, EO and VPRO. Topics covered include art, film, dance, theatre, literature, jazz and classical music.
Annemieke Schollaardt is a DJ for AVROTROS on popular music channel NPO Radio 2. Until April 2009, Annemieke was heard daily on a radio project called Uruzgan FM. On Saturday and Sunday morning between 10:00 am and 12:00 am she hosted the program Annemieke Hier on NPO 3FM as well as the Saturday evening program Weekend DNA, between 20:00 pm and 22:00 pm. On September 1. 2017, Annemieke moved after 11 years from NPO 3FM to NPO Radio 2. Annemieke can now be heard Friday to Sunday from 2 PM to 4 PM on NPO Radio 2 with Annemiekes A-Lijst.
KRO-NCRV is a Dutch public broadcasting company based in Hilversum established on January 1, 2014 from a merger of the broadcasters Catholic Radio Broadcasting (KRO) and the Dutch Christian Radio Association (NCRV), transmitting on NPO 1, NPO 2 and NPO 3. In 2016, the broadcaster also took on the programming from the former Roman Catholic Church Association (RKK) and proposed to serve "the Catholic and Protestant Christian communities" in the Netherlands.
Tim Hofman is a Dutch television presenter, journalist, poet, and columnist. Hofman often worked under the pseudonym of debroervanroos. He is, among other things, known as the presenter of the online program #BOOS, with which he won various awards.
Man bijt hond is a long-running Flemish TV programme. The show aired in Flanders and the Netherlands, with separate versions for each country. The Flemish version aired from 1997 to 2013, whilst the Netherlands version originally aired from 1999 to 2015, with a revival airing since 2019.
AVRO Studios is a building complex and national heritage site in Hilversum, where the radio and TV studios and the head office of the Dutch public broadcasting association AVRO were located until 2000. The buildings have since been used by other companies for different purposes.
Stien den Hollander, known professionally as S10, is a Dutch singer, rapper and songwriter. She began her musical career in 2016, and was signed to the Dutch hip hop record label Noah's Ark in 2017. In 2019, she released her debut studio album Snowsniper, which went on to win an Edison Award. Den Hollander represented the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 with the song "De diepte", the first Eurovision entry to be sung in the Dutch language since 2010.

Omroep Zwart, also known simply as Zwart, is a Dutch broadcasting association that is part of the Dutch public broadcasting system since 1 January 2022. The initiators are rapper Akwasi Ansah and film director Gianni Lieuw-A-Soe. The goal of the broadcaster is to create inclusive programs with new people, including those with different skin colors, preferences, origins, sexual orientations, backgrounds, or disabilities. The broadcaster collaborates with BNNVARA.
