The Nanaimo City Council is the governing body for the city of Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada. The council consists of the mayor and eight councillors.

The councillors are councillors-at-large elected for the entire city.

Municipal elections are held every four years across the Province on the third Saturday of November.

The first woman to be mayor in Nanaimo was Joy Leach (1990–1993), who defeated long-time mayor Frank Ney.

This was the same day as other local elections in the United Kingdom. 17 of the 39 seats were up for election, one councillor in each of the 13 wards, and 4 by-elections. These wards were last contested in 2018.

The 2023 Philadelphia City Council elections will be held November 7, 2023 for elections of all seats in the Philadelphia City Council. The Democratic Party currently has a super-majority on the council. It will take place on the same day as the 2023 Philadelphia mayoral election and other local elections in the United States.
