Barrie City Council is the governing body for the City of Barrie, in Ontario, Canada.
The council consists of the Mayor of Barrie and ten councillors, who represent the ten wards of the city. The council posts agendas for council meetings.
There are four city departments: the Chief Administrators Office, the Community Operations Division, the Corporate Services Division, and the Infrastructure, Development & Culture Division.

Barrie is a city in Central Ontario, Canada, about 90 kilometres (56 mi) north of Toronto. The city is within Simcoe County and located along the shores of Kempenfelt Bay. Although it is physically in the county, Barrie is politically independent. The city is part of the extended urban area in southern Ontario known as the Greater Golden Horseshoe. As of the 2021 census, the city's population was 147,829, while the census metropolitan area had a population of 212,667 residents.
Bradford West Gwillimbury is a town in south-central Ontario, Canada, in Simcoe County in the Toronto Census Metropolitan Area on the Holland River. West Gwillimbury takes its name from the family of Elizabeth Simcoe, née Gwillim.
Innisfil is a town in Ontario, Canada, located on the western shore of Lake Simcoe in Simcoe County, immediately south of Barrie and 80 kilometres (50 mi) north of Toronto. It has historically been a rural area, but since it is geographically sandwiched between the high-growth areas of Barrie and the York Region, there has been growing residential development in Innisfil.
Essa is a township in Ontario, Canada, west and south of the city of Barrie in Simcoe County. It is bounded by County Road 90 to its north, County Road 27 to its east, and Ontario Highway 89 to its south. The township is about 100 kilometres (62 mi) from Toronto. The township is well known for its agriculture industry, particularly potato farming. Nearby CFB Borden brings a strong military presence to the area as well, including a high number of Francophone families.

Joseph N. Tascona is a former politician in Ontario, Canada. He was a Progressive Conservative member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario representing the ridings of Barrie—Simcoe—Bradford and Simcoe Centre from 1995 to 2007. He also served as an alderman for Barrie City Council from 1991 to 1995. In 2010 he ran for mayor of Barrie but lost to Jeff Lehman.
Denzil Minnan-Wong is a former Canadian politician who was the statutory deputy mayor of Toronto from 2014 to 2022, representing North York. Minnan-Wong served on Toronto City Council from 1995 to 2022, representing a succession of wards in the Don Mills.

Jeffrey Robert Lehman is a Canadian politician and economist who is currently serving as Chair of the District of Muskoka since 2022. He had previously served as the 46th mayor of Barrie from 2010 to 2022. He was also the chair of Ontario's Big City Mayor's organization, consisting of the mayors of Ontario's 29 largest cities.
Rod Jackson is a former politician in Ontario, Canada. He was elected to Barrie City Council in 2006 and served until 2010. He was a Progressive Conservative member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 2011 to 2014 who represented the riding of Barrie. He served as the CEO of the Greater Barrie Chamber of Commerce from 2016 to 2017. He is now the President of iPi inc. a public affairs firm.
The 2015 Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario leadership election was held on May 9, 2015, as a result of the resignation of Ontario Progressive Conservative leader Tim Hudak following the provincial election on June 12, 2014, his second loss in a row as party leader. Patrick Brown won the leadership with 61.8% of votes allocated, defeating Christine Elliott who had 38.2%.
Alexander Nuttall is a Canadian politician who serves as the 47th and current mayor of Barrie. Previously, he served on Barrie City Council from 2006 until 2014, and as the member of Parliament for the federal electoral district of Barrie—Springwater—Oro-Medonte from 2015 to 2019. Nuttall won the 2022 Barrie municipal election and is now serving as Barrie's 47th mayor.

The 2022 Barrie municipal election was a municipal election held on October 24, 2022, to elect the mayor of Barrie, Barrie City Councillors and the Simcoe County District School Board, Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board, Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir and Conseil scolaire Viamonde members. The election was held on the same day as elections in every other municipality in Ontario.
Ausma Malik is a Canadian politician who serves as the deputy mayor of Toronto representing Toronto and East York. Malik was elected to represent Ward 10 Spadina—Fort York on Toronto City Council in the 2022 election. She was appointed as statutory (first) deputy mayor in 2023.

School trustees of the English-language Simcoe County District and Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Boards and the French-language Conseil scolaire Viamonde and Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir were also elected to represent the 10 wards of Barrie.
