The New Nation Party is a registered political party in New Zealand. The party is led by Guy Slocum. [3] It opposes vaccine mandates, Three Waters, and the United Nations. [4]
The party stood former Tauranga City councillor Andrew Hollis as a candidate at the 2022 Tauranga by-election. [5] [6] He received 260 votes. [7]
The party applied for registration on 27 March 2023. [8] It was registered on 12 April 2023. [9]
The party was previously a component party of Freedoms New Zealand. [10] [11] [12] Some time between May and September 2023 it ceased being a component party of Freedoms. [13] [14]
Polling conducted for 1News, between the party's founding and mid-September 2023, indicated the party's support at between 0.1% and 0.5%. [15]
In the 2023 general election, New Nation Party received 0.05% of the party vote – 1,530 votes, the lowest result of any party – and did not win any electorate seats, meaning it did not enter parliament. [16]
Destiny New Zealand was a Christian political party in New Zealand centred on the charismatic/pentecostal Destiny Church. The party described itself as "centre-right". It placed a strong focus on socially conservative values and argued that the breakdown of the traditional family was a primary cause of many of New Zealand's problems. It announced its de-registration as a political party on 18 September 2007, and was removed from the register a month later. It did not hold any seats in Parliament.
The Kiwi Party was a political party operating in New Zealand between 2007 and 2011. Briefly known as Future New Zealand, it was a breakaway from the United Future New Zealand party and sought to carry on the tradition of Future New Zealand. The party was formed when MP Gordon Copeland left United Future after a dispute over support for the Crimes Amendment Act 2007. At the 2008 general election, the Kiwi Party was unsuccessful, and was not re-elected to Parliament. The 2022 Hamilton West by-election was a by-election in New Zealand's Hamilton West electorate. The seat became vacant due to the resignation of former Labour Party MP Gaurav Sharma on 18 October 2022 after expulsion from the party caucus.
