Ochromonas is a genus of algae belonging to the family Ochromonadaceae.^[1]^[2]

The genus has cosmopolitan distribution.^[3]

Chlorosulfolipids, a class of biologically active compounds, was first discovered in some Ochromonas species.^[4]
