The Olympia and Belmore Railroad( reporting mark OYLO) is a short-line railroad headquartered in Centralia, Washington, USA. The railroad operates a line leased from the BNSF Railway which runs between Olympia and Belmore. The company began operations in 2016. It is a subsidiary of Genesee & Wyoming.

History

The Genesee & Wyoming formed the company in 2016 to lease a 13.06-mile (21.02 km) BNSF Railway line between Olympia and Belmore. The line primarily carries traffic from Olympia's port facilities. [1] Tacoma Rail had leased the line from 2004 to 2016 but chose not to renew. [2]

Tacoma Rail

Tacoma Rail is a publicly owned Class III shortline railroad. It is owned by the city of Tacoma, Washington and operated as a public utility. It is one of three operating divisions of the municipally-owned Tacoma Public Utilities service, but unlike other city services, the railroad is self-supported and generates revenue for the City of Tacoma and Washington state. Tacoma Rail provides freight switching services, serving the Port of Tacoma and customers in Tacoma, south Pierce County and parts of Thurston County. It operates 16 diesel locomotives, more than 100 employees and about 140 miles of track, many of which are former Milwaukee Road and BNSF Railway lines around Western Washington.

The Conecuh Valley Railroad connects with the CSX at Troy, Alabama, and travels 15.04 miles (24.20 km) to Goshen, Alabama. This short line railroad was created after 2001 from the former Southern Alabama Railroad and is currently owned and operated by Genesee & Wyoming.

Genesee & Wyoming American short-line railroad holding company

The Genesee & Wyoming Inc. (G&W) is an American short line railroad holding company, that owns or maintains an interest in 120 railroads throughout six countries: the United States, Canada, Australia, Belgium, Netherlands, Poland and the United Kingdom. It operates more than 15,500 miles (24,900 km) of owned and leased track, with more than 3,300 miles (5,300 km) under track-access arrangements. The company had its roots in the Class III Genesee and Wyoming Railroad, which began in 1899.

Riceboro Southern Railway

The Riceboro Southern Railway began operations in 2004 operating on about 33 miles of track, some of which is leased from CSX Transportation. The track on which it operates is part of the ex-Seaboard Air Line route from Savannah, Georgia to Jacksonville, Florida. It runs generally from Ogeechee, Georgia, where the line splits from the CSX Savannah Subdivision, which is the former Atlantic Coast Line Railroad's Savannah-Jacksonville route, and Riceboro. It does not have any of its own locomotives; it uses Georgia Central power.

The Toledo, Peoria and Western Railway is a short line railroad that operates 247 miles (398 km) of track from Mapleton, Illinois, through Peoria across Illinois to Logansport, Indiana. TP&W has trackage rights between Galesburg, Illinois, and Peoria, between Logansport and Kokomo, Indiana, and between Reynolds, Indiana, and Lafayette, Indiana. Corpus Christi Terminal Railroad

The Corpus Christi Terminal Railroad is a terminal railroad originally created in 1924 to facilitate heavy bulk freight cargo traffic flow from the recently completed deep water port channel of the new Corpus Christi Port. Wishing to maximize freight handling potential while holding down rates, the Port Authority decided to allow traffic to all of its docks and facilities by no less than three competing railroads, the Southern Pacific, the Missouri Pacific and the Tex-Mex railroads. To accomplish this, the Port of Corpus Christi Authority built its own trackage along the channel and to the docks and allowed all three carriers access to it. While the Authority's scheme at first heightened tensions between the three railroads, they eventually began to cooperate, assuring a good flow of bulk freight and the eventual success of the Port facilities.

Arizona and California Railroad short line railroad in the Southwestern United States

The Arizona and California Railroad is a short line railroad that was a subdivision of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway (ATSF). The ARZC began operations on May 9, 1991, when David Parkinson of the ParkSierra RailGroup purchased the line from the Santa Fe Railway. ParkSierra Railgroup was purchased in January 2002 by shortline railroad holding company RailAmerica. The Genesee & Wyoming shortline railroad holding company purchased RailAmerica in December 2012. ARZC's main commodities are petroleum gas, steel and lumber; the railroad hauls around 12,000 carloads per year.

Rapid City, Pierre and Eastern Railroad

Rapid City, Pierre and Eastern Railroad is a Class II railroad operating across South Dakota and southern Minnesota in the northern plains of the United States. Portions of the railroad also extend into Wyoming, and Nebraska. It is owned and operated by Genesee & Wyoming.
