The Oman Cricket Board, known as Oman Cricket for marketing purposes, is the official governing body of the sport of cricket in Oman. Its headquarters are located in Muscat, Oman. The Oman Cricket Board is Oman's representative at the International Cricket Council, having gained affiliate membership in 2000 and associate membership in 2014. It is also a member of the Asian Cricket Council.
In 2021, Oman was awarded six first-round matches in the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup, with the remainder to be hosted in the United Arab Emirates. The tournament was originally scheduled to be hosted in India, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) retained hosting rights, working collaboratively with Oman Cricket and the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) to stage the tournament. Oman Cricket Academy Ground, also known as the Al Amerat Cricket Stadium, is a cricket ground in Al Amarat, south of Muscat, Oman. The ground is owned by the Oman Cricket Board. In January 2021, the International Cricket Council (ICC) gave accreditation for the Ministry Turf 1 at the stadium to host Test cricket.
The 2018–19 international cricket season was from September 2018 to April 2019. 34 Test matches, 92 One Day Internationals (ODIs) and 74 Twenty20 International (T20Is), as well as 28 Women's One Day Internationals (WODIs) and 130 Women's Twenty20 Internationals (WT20Is), were played during this period. The 2019 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Qualifier was a cricket tournament held during October and November 2019 in the United Arab Emirates to determine the teams that would qualify for the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup tournament. The six teams finishing highest in the qualifier tournament joined Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in the first group stage of the 2020 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. The tournament formed part of the ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier series, with the Netherlands winning the final.
The 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup was the eighth edition of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, formerly known as the ICC World Twenty20. It was played in Australia from 16 October to 13 November 2022. In the final, England beat Pakistan by five wickets to win their second ICC Men's T20 World Cup title and draw level with the West Indies, who also won 2 ICC Men's T20 World Cup titles in both the 2012 and the 2016 edition. In winning the tournament, England also became the first team to simultaneously be the existing winners of the Cricket World Cup and the T20 World Cup. Sam Curran was named the player of the match and also the player of the tournament.
The 2023 ICC Under-19 Women's T20 World Cup was the first edition of the Under-19 Women's T20 World Cup, hosted by South Africa in 2023. The tournament was moved from its original slot at the end of 2021 to January 2023 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Sixteen teams competed in the tournament, initially divided into four groups.
