Orocrambus simplex is a moth in the family Crambidae. [1] It was described by Arthur Gardiner Butler in 1877. [2] [3] It is endemic to New Zealand, [4] where it has been recorded in Westland, Nelson Province, the central part of the North Island and the coastal area of southern Hawkes Bay. [5] The habitat where this species lives consists of tussock grasslands. [5]

The wingspan is 25–33 mm. [5] Adults have been recorded on wing from November to February. [5]

Larvae have been reared from Chionochloa rubra , Poa cita (formerly Poa caespitosa) and Poa annua . [6]
