Overlook Park is a light rail station in Portland, Oregon, United States, served by TriMet as part of the MAX Light Rail system. It is the eighth station southbound on the Yellow Line, which operates between North Portland, downtown Portland and Portland State University. The staggered side platform station is situated between the intersections of Fremont Street and Overlook Boulevard along the median of North Interstate Avenue, near the Interstate Medical Offices of Kaiser Permanente and a park with the same name. It is one of three stations serving North Portland's Overlook neighborhood along with North Prescott Street and North Killingsworth Street. Overlook Park station opened on May 1, 2004, as part of the Interstate MAX extension. Trains serve the station for approximately 21 hours per day on a headway of 15 minutes during most of the day.
In 1999, local residents and business leaders urged Portland's regional transit agency, TriMet, to extend the Metropolitan Area Express (MAX) through North Portland. [2] [3] The extension, approved in June of that year, came to be referred to as the Interstate MAX. [4] In February 2000, the Portland City Council authorized the relocation of Overlook Park station's planned northbound platform closer to the main entrance of Kaiser Permanente's medical offices, despite hospital officials expressing a preference to shift both platforms closer to benefit patients. [5] Construction of the Interstate MAX began in February 2001 near the Rose Quarter. [6] Overlook Park station opened on May 1, 2004, along with Yellow Line service. [7] [8]

Overlook Park station is situated at-grade along the median of North Interstate Avenue, between the intersections of Fremont Street and Overlook Boulevard. It is the first of three stations going northbound serving the Overlook neighborhood; [9] the other two are North Prescott Street and North Killingsworth Street. The station features two staggered side platforms, which are accessible via crosswalks at the ends of each platform. Its platforms consist of shelters, benches, garbage cans, ticket vending machines, and passenger information displays. [10] [11] Reserved bike lockers nearby may be rented in six-month increments. [12]
TriMet commissioned artist Fernanda D'Agostino to design the station's public artwork, which pays homage to nature, healing, and the Overlook neighborhood's Polish roots. [13] Her work, entitled Icons of Transformation, comprises two light towers and windscreens installed on the station platforms. [14] The light towers, modeled after Polish wayside shrines, feature portraits of community members overlaid with images of nature. The windscreen art glass suggests "the transforming power of nature". [15] A community map by artist Margaret Eccles depicts a shaft of wheat with roots interweaving a street grid and adorned with glass-block medical drawings derived from ancient Islamic, Chinese, and Medieval European cultures. The artist intended for this piece to convey a symbol of good health and longevity. [14]
Overlook Park station is situated between the Albina/Mississippi and North Prescott Street stations on the Interstate MAX segment of MAX Light Rail. It is eighth station southbound on the Yellow Line, which runs from the station northbound to the Expo Center and southbound through the Rose Quarter and the Portland Transit Mall to the PSU South stations at Portland State University. At Portland Union Station, most southbound Yellow Line trains operate through into the Orange Line and continue to Southeast Park Avenue station in Milwaukie. [16] Trains serve the station for approximately 21 hours per day every day of the week. The headway between trains measures 15 minutes during most of the day and up to 30 minutes in the early mornings and late evenings. [10] [11] [17] From the station, trains take 17 minutes to reach Expo Center station and 10 minutes to reach Union Station/Northwest 5th & Glisan station. [16] Overlook Park station averaged 557 riders per day on weekdays in fall 2018. [1]
The Metropolitan Area Express (MAX) is a light rail system serving the Portland metropolitan area in the U.S. state of Oregon. Owned and operated by TriMet, it consists of five lines that together connect the six sections of Portland; the communities of Beaverton, Clackamas, Gresham, Hillsboro, Milwaukie, and Oak Grove; and Portland International Airport to Portland City Center. Trains run seven days a week with headways of between 30 minutes off-peak and three minutes during rush hours. In 2019, MAX had an average daily ridership of 120,900, or 38.8 million annually. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which impacted public transit use globally, annual ridership plummeted, with only 14.8 million riders recorded in 2021.
The MAX Yellow Line is a light rail service in Portland, Oregon, United States, operated by TriMet as part of the MAX Light Rail system. It connects North Portland to Portland City Center and Portland State University (PSU) with 17 stops from Expo Center station to PSU South/Southwest 6th and College station. The line travels from Portland Expo Center in the north, south to the Rose Quarter through a 5.8-mile (9.3 km) light rail segment along the median of Interstate Avenue. From the Rose Quarter, it crosses the Willamette River via the Steel Bridge and enters downtown Portland, where it operates as a northbound-only service of the Portland Transit Mall on 6th Avenue. Service runs for approximately 21 hours daily with a headway of 15 minutes during most of the day.
Library/Southwest 9th Avenue and Galleria/Southwest 10th Avenue are light rail stops on the MAX Blue and Red Lines in Portland, Oregon. It was the original western terminus and is now the Eastside MAX line's first stop eastbound/last stop westbound in downtown.
Pioneer Square South and Pioneer Square North are a pair of light rail stations in Portland, Oregon, United States, served by TriMet as part of the MAX Light Rail system. Situated directly west of the Portland Transit Mall on the perimeter of Pioneer Courthouse Square in downtown Portland, facing Yamhill and Morrison streets between Broadway and 6th Avenue, the pair are the 21st and 7th stations eastbound on the Blue Line and the Red Line, respectively. They consist of one side platform each as MAX operates in a one-way pair along this segment; trains traveling eastbound stop at Pioneer Square South while trains traveling westbound stop at Pioneer Square North. With connections to the Green, Orange, and Yellow lines, the Pioneer Square stations, along with the Pioneer Courthouse/Southwest 6th and Pioneer Place/Southwest 5th stations located one block east, mark the only transfer point in the MAX system where riders can board any of the five existing lines.
Interstate/Rose Quarter station is a light rail station on the MAX Yellow Line in Portland, Oregon. It is the first stop northbound on the Interstate MAX extension. About 200 yards away is the Rose Quarter Transit Center's MAX station, where transfers to the eastbound MAX Blue and Red lines and the southbound Green Line are possible. Several bus lines also serve the transit center, making stops in the area between the two MAX stations.

It was originally named North Portland Boulevard, but following the city's decision in fall 2006 to rename Portland Blvd. to Rosa Parks Way, TriMet indicated it would support the change by renaming the station, at a then-undetermined future date. The signs at the station continued to show the old name until Feb. 4, 2009, when a dedication ceremony was held, unveiling new signs renaming it as "Rosa Parks" station. On TriMet's maps and other media, the station is shown as "N Rosa Parks Way".
Expo Center is a light rail station on the MAX Yellow Line in Portland, Oregon, United States. It is the last stop northbound on the Interstate MAX extension.
The MAX Green Line is a light rail service in Portland, Oregon, United States, operated by TriMet as part of the MAX Light Rail system. It is 15 miles (24.1 km) long and serves 30 stations from the PSU South stations to Clackamas Town Center Transit Center; it connects Portland State University (PSU), Portland City Center, Northeast Portland, Southeast Portland, and Clackamas. The Green Line is the only service that shares parts of its route with the four other MAX services, sharing the Portland Transit Mall with the Orange and Yellow lines and the Banfield segment of the Eastside MAX with the Blue and Red lines. Southbound from Gateway/Northeast 99th Avenue Transit Center, it operates the Interstate 205 (I-205) segment through to Clackamas Town Center. Service runs for approximately 211⁄2 hours daily with a headway of 15 minutes during most of the day. It is the third-busiest line in the system, carrying an average of 19,160 riders per day on weekdays in September 2019.
The MAX Orange Line is a light rail service in Portland, Oregon, United States, operated by TriMet as part of the MAX Light Rail system. It connects Portland City Center, Portland State University (PSU), Southeast Portland, Milwaukie, and Oak Grove. The line serves 17 stations from Union Station/Northwest 5th & Glisan to Southeast Park Avenue and runs for 201⁄2 hours daily with a minimum headway of 15 minutes during most of the day. It averaged 3,480 daily weekday riders in September 2020.
The Portland Transit Mall is a 1.2-mile (1.9 km) public transit corridor that travels north–south through the center of downtown in Portland, Oregon, United States. It comprises a pair of one-way streets—6th Avenue for northbound traffic and 5th Avenue for southbound—along which two of three lanes are restricted to transit buses and light rail vehicles only. As of September 2022, the corridor is served by the Green, Orange, and Yellow lines of MAX Light Rail; Frequent Express; and over a dozen local bus routes, all of which are services of TriMet, the transit agency operating within the Oregon side of the Portland metropolitan area. C-Tran, the transit agency for Clark County, Washington, additionally serves it with two express bus routes—#105 I-5 Express and #164 Fisher’s Landing Express.
PSU South/Southwest 6th and College and PSU South/Southwest 5th and Jackson are a pair of light rail stations on the MAX Green, Orange and Yellow Lines in Portland, Oregon. Together, they serve as the southern passenger terminus—one for departures only and the other for arrivals only—of the Portland Transit Mall MAX line. The stations opened on September 2, 2012.
Southeast Holgate Boulevard is a light rail station on the MAX Green Line in Portland, Oregon. It is the 4th stop southbound on the I-205 MAX branch. The station is located at SE Flavel Street, adjacent to Interstate 205, and has a center platform. Johnson Creek flows beneath the interstate and railway tracks, slightly north of the station.
Southeast Fuller Road is a light rail station on TriMet's MAX Green Line in Portland, Oregon, located between SE 82nd Avenue and Interstate 205. It is the 7th stop southbound on the Interstate 205 MAX branch. The station has a center platform and is surrounded by a park and ride facility.
Union Station/Northwest 6th & Hoyt and Union Station/Northwest 5th & Glisan are light rail stations on the MAX Green, Orange and Yellow Lines in Portland, Oregon. They are the first stops southbound on the Portland Transit Mall MAX extension. The Union Station/Northwest 6th & Hoyt Street station is served only by the Green and Yellow Lines, and the Union Station/Northwest 5th & Glisan Street station is served only by the Green and Orange Lines. Originally, from the opening of these stations in 2009 until 2015, the Yellow Line served both, but in September 2015 the then-new Orange Line replaced the Yellow Line at all southbound stations on the transit mall.
The PSU Urban Center stations are light rail stations on the MAX Green, Orange and Yellow Lines in downtown Portland, Oregon, United States, located adjacent to the PSU Urban Center, of Portland State University. The northbound platform is the PSU Urban Center/Southwest 6th & Montgomery station, and the southbound platform is the PSU Urban Center/Southwest 5th & Mill station. The stations opened on August 30, 2009, and for the next three years they were temporarily the southern passenger terminus of the Portland Transit Mall MAX extension, awaiting construction of the PSU South stations. The latter opened on September 2, 2012, and the change made PSU Urban Center the second stop northbound and the next-to-last stop southbound on the Portland Mall MAX lines.

Southeast Bybee Boulevard is a light rail station in Portland, Oregon, United States, served by TriMet as part of the MAX Light Rail system. It is the 14th station southbound on the Orange Line, which operates between Portland City Center, Southeast Portland, and Milwaukie. The grade-separated, island platform station adjoins Union Pacific Railroad (UP) freight tracks to the east and McLoughlin Boulevard to the west. Its entrances are located on the Bybee Bridge, which spans over the platform and connects Portland's Sellwood-Moreland and Eastmoreland neighborhoods. Nearby places of interest include Westmoreland Park, Eastmoreland Golf Course, Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden, and Reed College.
