Rose Quarter Transit Center

Rose Quarter Transit Center is a light rail station in the MAX system and a TriMet bus transit center, and is located in the Rose Quarter area of Portland, Oregon, a part of the Lloyd District. It is served by the Blue, Green and Red Lines. It is currently the 7th stop eastbound on the Eastside MAX as well as the first stop after crossing the Willamette River on the Steel Bridge. Two hundred yards west of the station is the Interstate/Rose Quarter station on the MAX Yellow Line.

Originally called the Coliseum Transit Center, it was renamed Rose Quarter Transit Center in 1994. As of September 2012, the transit center is served by six TriMet bus routes.

The transit center is located at 47 NE Holladay Street where it intersects NE Wheeler Avenue; the MAX station platforms are under an Interstate 5 overpass. The station serves the Rose Quarter area, which includes the Moda Center and the Memorial Coliseum located just to the northwest. The station has three platformstwo side platforms plus an additional island platform and track used as train storage and during special events.

The former Portland Vintage Trolley car barn is located on the north side of the platforms and connects to the tracks just to the east of the station. It has since been converted into a maintenance facility for TriMet workers. [1] Bus service from the surrounding stops serves much of North and Northeast Portland. Because most of the platform length is under the freeway overpass and the Rose Quarter is a major transit hub, this station can be very loud after events in the Rose Quarter neighborhood.

From 2001 [2] to 2012, the transit center was located within Fareless Square (renamed the Free Rail Zone in 2010), but the free-ride zone was discontinued in September 2012.

There is also a concessionaire building located at this station offering refreshments.

Fareless Square was an area within central Portland, Oregon, where all rides on TriMet buses and light rail and the Portland Streetcar were free. It primarily consisted of the downtown area and, after 2001, the Lloyd District. It existed from January 1975 through August 2012, but was briefly renamed the Free Rail Zone in January 2010 after its coverage became limited to light rail and streetcar service, with bus rides no longer being free. The TriMet board decided in June 2012 to discontinue the Free Rail Zone primarily to help fill a large shortfall in the agency's budget, and the action was one component of a package of extensive budget cuts which also included service reductions and fare increases. The Free Rail Zone ended on August 31, 2012.

The MAX Yellow Line is a light rail line serving Portland, Oregon, United States. Operated by TriMet as part of the MAX Light Rail system, it connects North Portland, Portland City Center, and Portland State University (PSU). The line serves 17 stations; it runs north–south from Expo Center station to PSU South/Southwest 6th and College station, interlining with the Green and Orange lines within the Portland Transit Mall. Service runs for 21 hours per day with headways of up to 15 minutes. The Yellow Line is the fourth-busiest service in the MAX system; it carried an average 12,960 riders per weekday in September 2019.

Owned and operated by TriMet, it comprises Gateway/Northeast 99th Avenue Transit Center, a bus transit center and light rail station serving the MAX Green and Blue Lines and eastbound Red Line trains, and Gateway North, a separate station served by westbound Red Line trains. The complex is where the three lines split, with the Blue Line proceeding east to Gresham, the Green Line proceeding south to Clackamas, and the Red Line proceeding north to Portland International Airport. It is TriMet's second-busiest transit center after Beaverton Transit Center, with 4,847 average weekday boardings for all modes in spring 2023.

Several bus lines also serve the transit center, making stops in the area between the two MAX stations.

Albina/Mississippi station is a light rail station on the MAX Yellow Line in Portland, Oregon, United States. It is the second stop northbound on the Interstate MAX extension. The station is located in the median of Interstate Avenue near the intersection of N Albina Street. The station serves the Lower Albina Industrial District, Emanuel Hospital, and an emerging and redeveloping commercial district. The station is a center platform, with its main artistic theme drawing upon the lively jazz scene that thrived in Albina in the post-World War II era. During planning for Interstate MAX, this station was located at the intersection of Interstate Avenue and Russell Street. The Union Pacific Railroad raised concerns on conflicts between pedestrian and truck traffic at the Russell Street intermodal entrance to Albina Yard, which led designers to shift the station two blocks south.

Overlook Park is a light rail station in Portland, Oregon, United States, served by TriMet as part of the MAX Light Rail system. It is the eighth station southbound on the Yellow Line, which operates between North Portland, downtown Portland and Portland State University. The staggered side platform station is situated between the intersections of Fremont Street and Overlook Boulevard along the median of North Interstate Avenue, near the Interstate Medical Offices of Kaiser Permanente and a park with the same name. It is one of three stations serving North Portland's Overlook neighborhood along with North Prescott Street and North Killingsworth Street. The Portland Transit Mall is a 1.2-mile (1.9 km) public transit corridor that travels north–south through the center of downtown in Portland, Oregon, United States. It comprises a pair of one-way streets—6th Avenue for northbound traffic and 5th Avenue for southbound—along which two of three lanes are restricted to transit buses and light rail vehicles only.
