Rhyzobius is a genus in the lady beetle family (Coccinellidae). It belongs to tribe Coccidulini of subfamily Coccidulinae, which is sometimes subsumed in the Coccinellinae as a tribe with the Coccidulini downranked to subtribe.
The Zopheridae family of beetles has grown considerably in recent years as the members of two other families have been included within its circumscription; these former families are the Monommatidae and the Colydiidae, which are now both included in the Zopheridae as subfamilies or even as tribe of subfamily Zopherinae. Some authors accept up to six subfamilies here, while others merge all except the Colydiinae into the Zopherinae.
Cryptophagidae is a family of beetles with representatives found in all ecozones. Members of this family are commonly called silken fungus beetles and both adults and larvae appear to feed exclusively on fungi although in a wide variety of habitats and situations, such as rotting wood and shed animal fur and feathers. These beetles vary from about 1 to 11 millimeters long, and usually have an oval body shape with a slight "waist".
The Lycidae are a family in the beetle order Coleoptera, members of which are commonly called net-winged beetles. These beetles are cosmopolitan, being found in Nearctic, Palearctic, Neotropical, Afrotropical, Oriental, and Australian ecoregions.
Erotylidae, or the pleasing fungus beetles, is a family of beetles containing over 100 genera. In the present circumscription, it includes the subfamilies Dacninae, Encaustinae, Erotylinae, Megalodacninae, and Tritominae. In other words, the narrowly circumscribed Erotylidae correspond to the subfamily Erotylinae in the definition sensu lato. They feed on plant and fungal matter; some are important pollinators, while a few have gained notoriety as pests of some significance. Sometimes, useful and harmful species are found in one genus, e.g. Pharaxonotha. Most pleasing fungus beetles, however, are inoffensive animals of little significance to humans.
The Mycetophagidae or hairy fungus beetles are a family of beetles in the large suborder Polyphaga. The different species are between 1.0 and 6.5 mm in length. The larvae and adults live in decaying leaf litter, fungi, and under bark. Most species feed on fungi. Worldwide, the 18 genera contain around 200 species.
Athrostictus is a genus of ground beetles in the family Carabidae.
The Pselaphitae are a supertribe of rove beetles.
The Oxytelinae are a subfamily of the Staphylinidae, rove beetles. They have a unique pair of defensive glands opening onto the ninth tergum. Most have seven complete sterna visible. The tarsal patterns are 2-2-2, 3-3-3, 4-4-4, or 5-5-5. They are generally found in moist places: moss along streams, leaf litter, beaches, etc.
Medon is a genus of rove beetles in the family Staphylinidae. There are at least 60 described species in Medon.
Anthophagini is a tribe of ocellate rove beetles in the family Staphylinidae. There are at least 20 genera and 20 described species in Anthophagini.
Ampedini is a tribe of click beetles in the family Elateridae. There are about 7 genera and at least 80 described species in Ampedini.
Harpalitae is a supertribe of ground beetles in the family Carabidae. There are at least 90 genera and 460 described species in Harpalitae.
Aciliini is a tribe of predaceous diving beetles in the family Dytiscidae. There are about 7 genera and at least 70 described species in Aciliini.
Synchitini is a tribe of cylindrical bark beetles in the family Zopheridae. There are about 19 genera and at least 40 described species in Synchitini.
Myrmoecia is a genus of rove beetles in the family Staphylinidae. There are about nine described species in Myrmoecia.
Devia is a genus of rove beetles in the family Staphylinidae. There are at least two described species in Devia.
Pinophilini is a tribe of rove beetles in the family Staphylinidae.
Stenolophina is a subtribe of ground beetles in the family Carabidae. There are about 9 genera and at least 50 described species in Stenolophina.
