Ilysiakos B.C. is a Greek professional basketball team that is located in the Ilisia neighborhood of Zografou, Athens, Greece. The club's name is said to be a reference to Elysium, which is why the club's name and logo beings with a Greek alphabet Η, instead of an Ι, even though the name of Ilissia, where the club is based, begins with an Ι in Greek. The Derby of Thessaloniki is a football local rivalry between Aris and PAOK, both of which are based in Thessaloniki, Macedonia, Greece. Aris play their home games at the Kleanthis Vikelidis Stadium in Charilaou district of eastern Thessaloniki, while PAOK are based at the Toumba Stadium in the neighbouring Toumba district. The two stadiums are 1.54 km apart.

The 2008–09 HEBA Greek All Star Game marked the 17th HEBA Greek All Star Game of the HEBA A1 Division. The game was held on March 15, 2009, at Xanthi Arena in Xanthi, Greece. The Greek All Stars beat The Rest of the World All Stars by a score of 127-93. Ioannis Bourousis was named the MVP of the game.

Basketballin Greece erupted with the win of the Greece men's national basketball team at the 1987 EuroBasket in Athens, which caused a general basketball euphoria in the country. Since then, the Greece men's national teams have achieved consistent international success, leading Greece to join Russia, Serbia, Croatia, Italy, Spain, France, and Lithuania in the circle of European basketball powers. In addition to the Greece national team's triumph in 1987, they won the gold medal at the 2005 EuroBasket, silver medals at the 1989 EuroBasket, and the 2006 FIBA World Cup, and the bronze medal at the 2009 EuroBasket.

The athletics department of Panathinaikos A.O. was founded in 1919 by the football players of the team. Amongst its first athletes were Giorgos Kalafatis, Apostolos Nikolaidis, Loukas Panourgias and Michalis Papazoglou. It is the second oldest department of the club operating continuously since its foundation, only behind the football department.

AEK Basketball Club, officially AEK Betsson BC for sponsorship reasons, and also known as AEK B.C. or AEK, or more commonly known in European competitions as AEK Athens, is a Greek professional basketball club based in Nea Filadelfeia, Attica, Greece, part of the major multi-sport club AEK.
