Patrick S. Boyd (born January 28,1981) is an educator and American politician who is a member of the Connecticut House of Representatives,serving since 2017. He represents the Towns of Ashford,Brooklyn,Eastford,Hampton,Mansfield,Pomfret,and Woodstock composing the Connecticut's 50th House of Representatives district of the Connecticut General Assembly. Boyd is currently the House Chairman of the Public Safety &Security Committee. [1]
Born in Norwich,Boyd is a Plainfield,Connecticut native,raised in Moosup where he attended local public schools and graduated from Plainfield High School in 1999. He earned a bachelor's degree in history &social science from Eastern Connecticut State University and later earned a master's degree from Sacred Heart University where he was admitted to the Pi Lambda Theta. [2] As a youth,Boyd earned the rank of Eagle Scout and was active in Scouting's National Honor Society,the Order of the Arrow where he was recognized with the Vigil Honor and the Distinguished Service Award. Boyd's career in education began at the Sterling Memorial School in Oneco. In 2003,he joined the faculty of the Rectory School in Pomfret,teaching history,English,leadership and outdoor education. In 2006,he was appointed to the faculty of the Pomfret School,an independent,coeducational,college preparatory boarding school in Pomfret,where he currently serves as the associate dean of students and as a history/government teacher. [4] Boyd serves as the summer camp director of the Boy Scouts of America's June Norcross Webster Scout Reservation in Ashford. [5]
He began his public service career serving on the Charter Revision Commission in Plainfield while a student at Eastern Connecticut State University. After moving to Pomfret,he joined the Pomfret Volunteer Fire Department,later serving as the fire company president. He was elected by town meeting to the fire district board and appointed by the board of selectmen to serve as the deputy emergency management director for the town. In February 2016 he announced that he was seeking the Democratic nomination for an open house seat in the Connecticut General Assembly. He was elected on November 8,2016,with 55% of the vote,and took office on January 4,2017. [6] Boyd is a founding member of Unite America.

Speaker of the House Joe Aresimowicz appointed Boyd to serve on the Veterans' Affairs Committee,Public Safety and Security Committee for the 2017–2019 session. [2] Boyd is considered a member of the Centrist Wing of the House Democratic Caucus and campaigned openly as an Independent Democrat. [10] Early in the 2017 legislative session,Boyd was the only Democrat in the state house and senate to vote with the Republicans against a deal that Governor Dannel Malloy struck with state employee unions to refinance pension costs. [11]

Scouting in Connecticut has experienced many organizational changes since 1910. With only eight counties,Connecticut has had 40 Boy Scout Councils since the Scouting movement began in 1910. In 1922,17 Boy Scout Councils existed in Connecticut,but currently only four exist. The Girl Scouts of the USA has had at least 53 Girl Scout Councils in Connecticut since their program began in 1912. Today there is one,Girl Scouts of Connecticut,which assumed operation on October 1,2007.
Ashford is a town in Windham County,Connecticut,United States. The town is part of the Northeastern Connecticut Planning Region. The population was 4,191 at the 2020 census. It was founded in 1714. Eastford was a part of Ashford until 1847,when the former split off to organize its own town. For this reason North Ashford is located in northeast Eastford.

It is council #072 and serves 37 towns and cities in Connecticut,including Fairfield,New Haven,and parts of Hartford counties. The present council was formed in 1998 by the merger of Quinnipiac Council (#074) and Fairfield County Council (#068).Owaneco Lodge is the Order of the Arrow lodge that serves this council.
The headquarters of the Connecticut Rivers Council of the Boy Scouts of America is located in East Hartford,Connecticut. The present council was formed as the result of the merger between the Indian Trails Council of Norwich,Connecticut and Long Rivers Council of Hartford,Connecticut. Now it is the largest council in the state with a youth membership of over 17,000 and a volunteer base of nearly 10,000 adults,serving for over half of the state.

The Northeastern Connecticut Transit District (NECTD) is an agency providing multiple forms of public transportation in northeastern Connecticut. Six fixed routes (with deviation on request) provide week-round service to the towns of Brooklyn,Killingly,Plainfield,Putnam,and Thompson. Using fixed route service connections to WRTD can be made in Killingly and to SEAT in Plainfield respectively. With advance reservation NECTD also offers dial-a-ride service to the general public and door-to-door to select elderly and disabled persons. Dial-a-ride and door-to-door service is available to all towns served by NECTD's fixed routes as well as to Canterbury,Eastford,Hampton,Pomfret,Union,and Woodstock. Following a pilot program which began in 1977,NECTD was founded in October 1979,with its first service beginning in August 1980.

Mike Alberts is an American Republican Party politician who served as a member of the Connecticut House of Representatives from the 50th district,which consists of the towns of Brooklyn,Woodstock,Eastford,Pomfret and Union,from 2005 to 2017. Near the end of his term,Alberts served on the House's Banks Committee,Commerce Committee,and Higher Education and Employment Advancement Committee. After his retirement from the House,He was succeeded in the seat by Democrat Pat Boyd. Alberts is a graduate of the University of Connecticut and was selected as President and CEO of the regional Jewett City Savings Bank in 2021.
