Windham County is one of the eight historical counties in the U.S. state of Connecticut,located in its northeastern corner. As of the 2020 census,the population was 116,418,making it the least populous county in Connecticut. It forms the core of the region known as the Quiet Corner. Windham County is included in the Worcester,MA-CT Metropolitan Statistical Area,which is also included in the Boston-Worcester-Providence,MA-RI-NH-CT Combined Statistical Area. The entire county is within the Quinebaug and Shetucket Rivers Valley National Heritage Corridor,as designated by the National Park Service.

Today there is one,Girl Scouts of Connecticut,which assumed operation on October 1,2007.
Ashford is a town in Windham County,Connecticut,United States. The town is part of the Northeastern Connecticut Planning Region. The population was 4,191 at the 2020 census. It was founded in 1714. Eastford was a part of Ashford until 1847,when the former split off to organize its own town. For this reason North Ashford is located in northeast Eastford.

The present council was formed in 1998 by the merger of Quinnipiac Council (#074) and Fairfield County Council (#068).Owaneco Lodge is the Order of the Arrow lodge that serves this council.
The headquarters of the Connecticut Rivers Council of the Boy Scouts of America is located in East Hartford,Connecticut. The present council was formed as the result of the merger between the Indian Trails Council of Norwich,Connecticut and Long Rivers Council of Hartford,Connecticut. Now it is the largest council in the state with a youth membership of over 17,000 and a volunteer base of nearly 10,000 adults,serving for over half of the state.

The Northeastern Connecticut Transit District (NECTD) is an agency providing multiple forms of public transportation in northeastern Connecticut. Six fixed routes (with deviation on request) provide week-round service to the towns of Brooklyn,Killingly,Plainfield,Putnam,and Thompson. Using fixed route service connections to WRTD can be made in Killingly and to SEAT in Plainfield respectively. With advance reservation NECTD also offers dial-a-ride service to the general public and door-to-door to select elderly and disabled persons. Dial-a-ride and door-to-door service is available to all towns served by NECTD's fixed routes as well as to Canterbury,Eastford,Hampton,Pomfret,Union,and Woodstock. Following a pilot program which began in 1977,NECTD was founded in October 1979,with its first service beginning in August 1980.

Mike Alberts is an American Republican Party politician who served as a member of the Connecticut House of Representatives from the 50th district,which consists of the towns of Brooklyn,Woodstock,Eastford,Pomfret and Union,from 2005 to 2017. Near the end of his term,Alberts served on the House's Banks Committee,Commerce Committee,and Higher Education and Employment Advancement Committee. After his retirement from the House,He was succeeded in the seat by Democrat Pat Boyd. Alberts is a graduate of the University of Connecticut and was selected as President and CEO of the regional Jewett City Savings Bank in 2021.
