Pennellville /ˈpɛnɪvɪl/ is a hamlet in Oswego County, New York, United States. It is located in the Town of Schroeppel. Its ZIP Code is 13132. Elevation is 413 feet above Mean Sea Level.
The hamlet is named after Richard Pennell M.D., of New York. His wife inherited the land from her father, George C. Schroeppel. Running through the area was a stream, called by the local Indian tribe Ahinahtanaganus (translated: "big fish water") upon which, in 1833, Dr. Pennell commissioned a sawmill, which was built by Laren Seymour.
The hamlet is part of the village of Phoenix School District. There is a restaurant and music venue called Moniraes that brings in touring national acts.
The burial ground in the hamlet is the burial place of Dr. and Mrs. Pennell, and also Henry W. Schroeppel. [1]

Richard C. Schroeppel is an American mathematician born in Illinois. His research has included magic squares, elliptic curves, and cryptography. In 1964, Schroeppel won first place in the United States among over 225,000 high school students in the Annual High School Mathematics Examination, a contest sponsored by the Mathematical Association of America and the Society of Actuaries. In both 1966 and 1967, Schroeppel scored among the top 5 in the U.S. in the William Lowell Putnam Mathematical Competition. In 1973 he discovered that there are 275,305,224 normal magic squares of order 5. In 1998–1999 he designed the Hasty Pudding Cipher, which was a candidate for the Advanced Encryption Standard, and he is one of the designers of the SANDstorm hash, a submission to the NIST SHA-3 competition.
Joseph Pennell was an American draftsman, etcher, lithographer and illustrator for books and magazines. A prolific artist, he spent most of his working life in Europe, and is known for his interest in landmarks, landscapes and industrial scenes around the world. A student of James Lambdin and Thomas Eakins, he was later influenced by James McNeill Whistler. Married to author Elizabeth Robins, Pennell was a writer in his own right. He published the anti-semitic The Jew at Home: Impressions of a Summer and Autumn Spent with Him (1892), followed by less controversial photo-documentary works including Lithographs of War (1914),Pictures of the Wonders of Work (1915),The Adventures of an Illustrator(1925). In later life, he and wife Elizabeth both wrote art criticism and co-authored books.
The Hasty Pudding cipher (HPC) is a variable-block-size block cipher designed by Richard Schroeppel, which was an unsuccessful candidate in the competition for selecting the U.S. Advanced Encryption Standard (AES). It has a number of unusual properties for a block cipher: its input block size and key length are variable, and it includes an additional input parameter called the "spice" for use as a secondary, non-secret key. The Hasty Pudding cipher was the only AES candidate designed exclusively by U.S. cryptographers.
New York State Route 264 (NY 264) is a north–south state highway located within Oswego County, New York, in the United States. It runs for 8.65 miles (13.92 km) from an intersection with County Route 57 in the village of Phoenix to a junction with NY 3 in the town of Palermo. The southernmost portion of NY 264 serves as a connector between Phoenix and NY 481, which bypasses the village to the northeast. When NY 264 was assigned in the early 1930s, it originally served the hamlet of Pennellville, located midway between Phoenix and Palermo. The route was altered to bypass the community later in the decade.

He was also a baseball player, playing on scholarship for the University of Southern California (USC) and later professionally for the Boston Braves organization.

Schroeppel House is a historic home located in Schroeppel in Oswego County, New York. The original section was built in 1818 and is a Neoclassical-style structure. The principal mass is a three- by four-bay, 2+1⁄2-story frame house constructed in the style of a prostyle tetrastyle temple. It features a 2-story portico with Ionic columns. The house is currently used as a bed and breakfast called River Edge Mansion.
