Albion is a city in Calhoun County in the south central region of the Lower Peninsula of the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 8,616 at the 2010 census and is part of the Battle Creek Metropolitan Statistical Area. From the time that the earliest English-speaking settlers arrived, the area has also been known as The Forks, because it is situated at the confluence of the north and south branches of the Kalamazoo River. The Festival of the Forks has been held annually since 1967 to celebrate Albion's ethnic heritage.

It has been the home of West Bromwich Albion F.C. since 1900, when it became the sixth ground to be used by the club. The Hawthorns was the last Football League ground to be built in the 19th century opening in September 1900, after construction work took only 4 months. At an altitude of 551 feet (168 m), it is the highest ground among those of all 92 Premier League and Football League clubs.
Stirling Albion Football Club is a Scottish football club based in the city of Stirling. The club was founded in 1945 following the demise of King's Park after World War II. Albion Rovers Football Club is a semi-professional football team from Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire, Scotland. They are members of the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL) and, as of the 2019–20 season, play in League Two, the fourth tier of the Scottish football league system. Founded in 1882 as the result of an amalgamation of two teams, Albion and Rovers, the club joined the Scottish Football League initially in 1903 before returning in 1919 and, although they have spent most of their time in the lower divisions, have maintained their league membership since. Their sole major honours during that time have been wins in the lower two divisions of the senior league system.

The 1886 FA Cup Final was contested by Blackburn Rovers and West Bromwich Albion at the Kennington Oval. The match finished goalless, Albion wanted to play extra time but Blackburn Rovers declined, meaning a replay was necessary. The replay was particularly noteworthy in that it took place at Derbyshire County Cricket Club's Racecourse Ground, the first time an FA Cup Final was played outside London. The replay was won 2–0 by Blackburn Rovers, their third successive FA Cup Final victory. The goals came from James Brown and Joe Sowerbutts.

The 2014-15 season is Burton Albion's sixth consecutive season in League Two. They finished 6th in the previous season but failed to get promotion via the playoffs. It was Gary Rowett's third season as manager of the club, he would leave in November to join Birmingham City. The club would appoint former Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and under his leadership the club finished first earning promotion to the Football League One for the first time in the club's history.
