Perry Minasian (born April 1980) is an American baseball executive. He is the general manager of the Los Angeles Angels of Major League Baseball. He previously served as a scout and assistant general manager in the Toronto Blue Jays and Atlanta Braves organizations,respectively. [1] [2]
Minasian was raised in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex of Texas,where he became involved in baseball when he was eight years old as a batboy for the Texas Rangers. His father,Zack,also worked with the team as an assistant clubhouse manager. Minasian played baseball while attending Lamar High School in Arlington,and at the University of Texas at Arlington. [3]
Minasian became a clubhouse attendant for the Rangers in 1996. [4] In 2003,he was hired as a scout for the Rangers. He would later serve as a staff assistant to then-manager Buck Showalter. [5]
In 2009,Minasian was hired as a scout by the Toronto Blue Jays and spent several seasons as the team's director of pro scouting. In his final two seasons with the team,the Blue Jays reached the American League Championship Series. [6]
Minasian was hired as an assistant general manager by the Atlanta Braves in September 2017 under John Coppolella. [2] He was then promoted to vice president of baseball operations under Alex Anthopoulos. Minasian had previously worked with Anthopoulos in Toronto. [7] The Braves won the National League East in each of Minasian's three seasons,reaching the National League Championship Series in 2020.
In November 2020,following the firing of Billy Eppler,Minasian was named the general manager of the Los Angeles Angels. He signed a four-year contract. [8] In August 2024,Minasian and the Angels agreed to a two-year contract extension. [9]

Minasian has three brothers;Calvin,Zack,and Rudy. Calvin is the clubhouse and equipment director for the Atlanta Braves [11] while Zack is the professional scouting director for the San Francisco Giants. [12] Rudy practices law in Chicago. [13]

James Leroy Thomas was an American first baseman and right fielder,coach and front-office executive in Major League Baseball (MLB) who played for six teams from 1961 to 1968,most notably the Los Angeles Angels,then went on to a successful tenure as general manager of the Philadelphia Phillies. Traded to the Angels one month after the expansion franchise began play in 1961,he tied for third in Rookie of the Year voting after batting .285 with 24 home runs and 70 runs batted in (RBI),primarily playing in the outfield. The following year,he was named to the American League (AL) All-Star team after shifting to first base,and appeared in both All-Star games played that year as a pinch hitter and late-inning defensive replacement. He finished the year with career highs in batting (.290),home runs (26) and RBI (104),but a sharp decline in 1963 led to his being traded to the Boston Red Sox in mid-1964,the first of four trades before the 1968 season.
William Robert Singer is an American former professional baseball pitcher with a 14-year career from 1964 to 1977. Prior to the Blue Jays,Anthopoulos got his start in professional baseball with the Montreal Expos organization in 2000. In 2015,he was named the Sporting News Executive of the Year after the Blue Jays advanced to the playoffs for the first time since 1993,reaching the American League Championship Series (ALCS). However,his term with the Blue Jays ended on October 29,2015,when he declined a five-year contract extension. He served for two years as vice president of baseball operations for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Billy Eppler is an American baseball executive who most recently served as the general manager of the New York Mets of Major League Baseball (MLB). In February 2024,Eppler was placed on MLB's ineligible list for the 2024 season due to fabrication of player injuries in violation of league rules during his tenure with the Mets. He also served as the general manager of the Los Angeles Angels from 2015 to 2020. Before that,he worked as the director of professional scouting and assistant general manager for the New York Yankees.
