The San Francisco Giants have had nine general managers. [1] [2] [3] The general manager controls player transactions, hiring and firing of the coaching staff, and negotiates with players and agents regarding contracts. [4] [5] The first person to officially hold the title of general manager for the Giants was Chub Feeney, who assumed the title in 1947. Larry Baer is the team's president. The principal owner is Charles B. Johnson, while the chairman of the board is Greg Johnson. The president of baseball operations is Farhan Zaidi. [6]

Before coming to the Yankees, he was the executive vice president of baseball operations of the San Francisco Giants. He served as the team's general manager for eighteen seasons, from 1997 to 2014. He succeeded general manager Bob Quinn. The Giants had a winning record in thirteen of the eighteen seasons in which Sabean served as general manager. Prior to his tenure, the team had suffered losing seasons in five out of six years. He is a native of Concord, New Hampshire.

Baseball America called the Dodgers the model franchise in the sport under Friedman’s tenure as President.

The 1976 San Francisco Giants season was the Giants' 94th season in Major League Baseball, their 19th season in San Francisco since their move from New York following the 1957 season, and their 17th at Candlestick Park. The team finished in fourth place in the National League West with a 74–88 record, 28 games behind the Cincinnati Reds.

The 1981 San Francisco Giants season was the Giants' 99th season in Major League Baseball, their 24th season in San Francisco since their move from New York following the 1957 season, and their 22nd at Candlestick Park. Giants manager Frank Robinson became the first black manager in the history of the National League. Robinson was also the first black manager in the history of the American League.

The history of the San Francisco Giants begins in 1883 with the New York Gothams and has involved some of baseball's greatest players, including Willie Mays, Juan Marichal, Barry Bonds, and Gaylord Perry. The team has won three World Series titles and six National League (NL) pennants since moving to San Francisco.

Robert E. Quinn is a former American professional baseball executive. Quinn spent almost 30 years in senior front office positions in Major League Baseball and worked as the general manager of three clubs: the New York Yankees, Cincinnati Reds and San Francisco Giants. He was the general manager of the 1990 World Series champion Cincinnati Reds.

Harold Beland "Spec" Richardson was an American professional baseball executive. He served as the general manager of two Major League Baseball teams, the Houston Astros (1967–75) and San Francisco Giants (1976–81).
