The station opened on 12 October 1913 (architect was H.Schweitzer). The street was named after Prussian Minister of State Victor von Podbielski (1844–1916), son of General Eugen Anton Theophil von Podbielski.
It was destroyed in the Battle of Berlin.
The platform was roofed over in 1978, before only a part of it was under the roof. The U3 trains towards Krumme Lanke emerge above ground after Breitenbachplatz. [1]

Eugen Anton Theophil von Podbielski was a general in the Prussian Army. He was born in Köpenick and originally was a cavalry officer. Podbielski served as Quartermaster-General of the German General Staff during the Austro-Prussian War and again the Franco-Prussian War. As such he was the operations officer and Deputy Chief of Staff. Afterwards he was made Inspector-General of Artillery and became the namesake of the 5th Field Artillery Regiment. He eventually was promoted to General of the Cavalry. Having five daughters; his son Victor von Podbielski became a general as well and served as a Prussian minister afterwards. Theophil von Podbielski died in Berlin.
Berlin Schönhauser Allee is a railway station in the Prenzlauer Berg district of Berlin. It is located on the Berlin U-Bahn line and also on the Ringbahn . Built in 1913 by A.Grenander opened as "Bahnhof Nordring". As the station was well accepted the roof was elongated in 1925 and a new entrance built. In 1936 the station was named "Schönhauser Allee". On an average day approximately 500 trains and more than 26000 people cross this station.
