Port of Bitung (Indonesian : Pelabuhan Bitung) is a seaport located on Jalan D.S Sumolang in Bitung, North Sulawesi, in Indonesia. It is the largest port in the province, consists of both container and passenger ship ports. [3] The port serves as a hub for most exports originated from North Sulawesi and other areas of eastern Indonesia to destinations such as Philippines and Vietnam. [4] [5] There are also ferry routes linking Bitung with General Santos and Davao City. [6] [7]
Since Bitung harbour's designation as an important international hub seaport in 2012, [8] it has a larger sets of facilities than other ports in the area. The Port of Bitung is supported by two tugboats and four pilot boats and 9 miles (7.8 nautical miles ; 14 kilometres ) of 600 metres (2,000 feet ) wide shipping lane. In addition, there are other facilities that support the operation of the port, namely a container crane, a mobile crane, four chassis, five trucks, five forklifts, water desalination facility, refuelling stop (diesel and marine fuel), dry wharf for repairs, warehouse (3 x 4,320 square metres (46,500 square feet) and 1 x 432 square metres (4,650 square feet)), [1] immigration, and a medical facility.
North Sulawesi is a province of Indonesia. It is mainly located on the Minahasa Peninsula of the island of Sulawesi, south of the Philippines and southeast of Sabah, Malaysia, but also includes various small archipelagoes situated between the Minahasa Peninsula and southern Philippines. Manado is the capital city of the Indonesian province of North Sulawesi. It is the second largest city in Sulawesi after Makassar, with the 2020 census giving a population of 451,916, and the official estimates for mid 2023 showing 458,582 inhabitants, distributed over a land area of 157.26 km2. Palu, officially known as the City of Palu, is the capital and largest city of Central Sulawesi Province in Indonesia. Kendari is the capital city of the Indonesian province of Southeast Sulawesi. It had a population of 289,966 at the 2010 Census and 345,107 at the 2020 census, making it the most populous city in the province, and the fourth most on Sulawesi. The official estimate as at mid 2023 was 351,085 - comprising 176,279 males and 174,806 females. The city covers an area of 270.14 square kilometers (104.30 sq mi), or about 0.7 percent of Southeast Sulawesi's land area. Located on Kendari Bay, it continues to be an important trade center, with the province's main port and airport. It is the economic and educational center of the province, home to various universities and colleges. Kendari has the highest Human Development Index (HDI) in Sulawesi.
Sam Ratulangi International Airport is an international airport located 13 kilometres north-east of Manado, the capital city of North Sulawesi, Indonesia. The airport is named after the Minahasan educator and independence hero Sam Ratulangi (1890–1949). It is designated as one of the 11 main entry ports to Indonesia by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture of Indonesia and serves as the main gateway to the Bunaken National Marine Park. It is currently the operating base of Lion Air and Wings Air for the north-eastern part of Indonesia and serves international scheduled flights to several destinations in Asia.
Bitung, officially the City of Bitung, is a coastal city at the north-eastern edge of the island of Sulawesi in Indonesia. Bitung is located in the province of North Sulawesi, and faces Lembeh Island, and the Lembeh Strait, which is known for its colourful marine life, in particular sea slugs. Bitung has a population of 187,932 at the 2010 Census, making it the second most populated city in the province after the capital Manado, rising to 225,134 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 232,440.

The Sangihe Islands Regency is a regency of North Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. It comprises a group of islands situated to the North of Sulawesi. It covers a land area of 736.98 km2, and had a population of 126,100 at the 2010 census and 139,262 at the 2020 census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 140,614. The principal island is also named Sangihe, on which lies the main town of Tahuna. Minor island groups within the Regency include the Marore group considerably to the north of Sangihe Island, the Tatoareng group to the south, and the Nusa Tabukan group off the northeast coast of Sangihe Island. It borders the Philippines in the north, making it one of Indonesia's border regions.

Manado-Bitung Toll Road is a toll road that connects Manado and Bitung, the two largest cities of North Sulawesi province in the island of Sulawesi, Indonesia. This toll road serves as the main access road to Bitung Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and Bitung International Hub Port.
Port of Sorong is a seaport in western New Guinea. This port contains both passenger and container terminal linking the Bird's Head Peninsula with other regions of Indonesia. This port is located at Sudirman Road, Sorong District, in Sorong and operated by PT Pelabuhan Indonesia IV.
The 2019 North Maluku earthquake, a shallow 7.2 magnitude earthquake, struck the island of Halmahera, North Maluku, Indonesia on 14 July 2019 at 18:10 local time with its epicentre located at South Halmahera. It struck at a shallow depth of 10 km (6.2 mi) near Labuha, a small port town located in Bacan Island. The earthquake produced a non-destructive 20 cm tsunami, which struck Labuha just minutes after the shaking started. 14 people were killed by the earthquake while 129 people were injured, and more than 50,000 people were displaced. The earthquake inflicted a total damage of Rp 238 billion.

The Port of Tanjung Kalian is a seaport located in the town of Muntok, in West Bangka Regency of the Bangka Belitung Islands, Indonesia. It serves as both a cargo port and a passenger ferry port, connecting the island of Bangka to Sumatra through the opposite Port of Tanjung Api-Api in South Sumatra.
On 25 November 2023 (UTC+8), in East Bitung Sub-district, Maesa District, Bitung, North Sulawesi, Indonesia, a clash incident occurred involving two camps of mass organization. It is suspected that this clash was caused by an attack carried out by members of Pasukan Manguni Makasiouw and Makatana Minahasa against pro-Palestinian crowd from "Action to Defend Palestine" demonstrations in the city.
