Huntington is a city in Cabell and Wayne counties in the U.S. state of West Virginia. The seat of Cabell County, the city is located in SW West Virginia at the confluence of the Ohio and Guyandotte rivers. Huntington is the second-most populous city in West Virginia, with a population of 46,842 as of the 2020 census. Its metro area, the Huntington–Ashland metropolitan area, is the largest in West Virginia, spanning seven counties across three states and having a population of 376,155 at the 2020 census.
Bethany College is a private liberal arts college in Bethany, West Virginia, United States. Founded in 1840 by minister Alexander Campbell of the Restoration Movement, who gained support by the Virginia legislature, Bethany College was the first institution of higher education in what is now West Virginia. The college has an enrollment of approximately 620 students.
West Liberty University (WLU) is a public university in West Liberty, West Virginia. Located in the state's Northern Panhandle, it is the oldest college or university in West Virginia. It offers more than 70 undergraduate majors plus graduate programs, including a master's degree in education, a physician assistant studies program, and an online MBA. WLU's athletic teams, known as the Hilltoppers, are charter members of the NCAA Division II Mountain East Conference with nearly 400 student-athletes participating in 16 intercollegiate sports, including football, basketball, wrestling, track, acrobatics & tumbling and baseball.

Jackson Ward, previously known as Central Wards, is a historically African-American district in Richmond, Virginia, with a long tradition of African-American businesses. It is located less than a mile from the Virginia State Capitol, sitting to the west of Court End and north of Broad Street. It was listed as a National Historic Landmark District in 1978. "Jackson Ward" was originally the name of the area's political district within the city, or ward, from 1871 to 1905, yet has remained in use long after losing its original meaning.

The James Monroe Museum and Memorial Library is a historic museum at 908 Charles Street in Fredericksburg, Virginia. It is located on the site of the James Monroe Law Office, used by future United States President James Monroe from 1786 to 1789. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1966. It is now owned by the Commonwealth of Virginia and operated by the University of Mary Washington. The museum features original objects and memorabilia related to James Monroe, and includes items relating to other members of his family, including dresses worn by First Lady Elizabeth Monroe.

Ritter Park Historic District is a national historic district located at Huntington, West Virginia. The district encompasses 68 contributing buildings and 5 contributing structures, including the Ritter Park municipal park. The city purchased the park property in 1908. Dwellings in the district represent the finest styles in popular architecture from the years 1913 to 1940, including Colonial Revival, Bungalow/craftsman, and Tudor Revival.
Shaw Hall is a historic dormitory located on the campus of West Liberty University at West Liberty, Ohio County, West Virginia. It was built in 1919–1920, and is a three-story red brick building in the Classical Revival style. The front and end facades are dominated by two-story porticos with Ionic order columns having a stucco shaft. It was built as the first dormitory on campus and housed female students. It is the oldest building on the campus of West Liberty University. The building now houses classrooms and administrative offices. The building is named for John C. Shaw, president of West Liberty Normal School from 1908 to 1919.
Shotwell Hall, also known as Fraternity Hall, is a historic dormitory located on the campus of West Liberty University at West Liberty, Ohio County, West Virginia. It was designed by noted Wheeling architect Frederick F. Faris (1870-1927) and built as a Public Works Administration project in 1937. It is a 2+1⁄2-story red brick over concrete block building in the Colonial Revival style. It features a broken pediment doorway and pedimented gable ends. The building was built as a men's dormitory, but now houses faculty offices. The building is named for Nathan Shotwell, first president of West Liberty Academy from 1838 to 1854.
