Pru District is a former district that was located in Brong-Ahafo Region (now currently in Bono East Region), Ghana. [1] Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Atebubu District on 10 March 1989, until the northern part was split off to create Pru District; thus the remaining part has been renamed as Atebubu-Amantin District , which it was elevated to municipal district assembly status on 15 March 2018 to become Atebubu-Amantin Municipal District . However on 15 March 2018, it was split off into two new districts: Pru East District (capital: Yeji) and Pru West District (capital: Prang). [2] [3] [4] The district assembly was located in the east central part of Brong-Ahafo Region (now east central part of Bono East Region) and had Yeji as its capital town.

Brong-Ahafo region Region in Ghana

The Brong-Ahafo region was a region in southern Ghana. Brong-Ahafo was bordered to the north by the Black Volta river and to the east by the Lake Volta, and to the south by the Ashanti, Eastern and Western regions. The capital of Brong-Ahafo is Sunyani. Brong-Ahafo was created on 14 April 1959 from the then Western Ashanti and named after the dominant and native inhabitants, Akans, Brong and Ahafo. In 2019, as a result of the 2018 Ghanaian new regions referendum, the region was divided into three, namely Bono, Bono East and Ahafo regions, and ceased to exist.

Atebubu-Amantin Municipal District Municipal District in Brong-Ahafo, Ghana

Atebubu-Amantin Municipal District is one of the eleven districts in Bono East Region, Ghana. It was later upgraded to municipal district assembly status and has been renamed as Berekum Municipal District on 29 February 2008; until the western part of the district was split off to create Berekum West District on 15 March 2018; thus the remaining part has been renamed as Berekum East Municipal District. The municipality is located in the western part of Bono Region and has Berekum as its capital town.

Atebubu-Amantin (Ghana parliament constituency)

Atebubu-Amantin constituency of the Atebubu-Amantin district formerly the Atebubu district in 2003. The Atebubu-Amantin district was formed by the legislative instrument LI 1770. The constituency can be found in the Bono East region, which was part of the former Brong Ahafo region of Ghana.

Bono East region Region of Ghana

The Bono East region of Ghana is a new region carved out of the existing Brong Ahafo region. The capital of the new region is Techiman. This creation of this new region was in fulfillment of a promise made by the New Patriotic Party prior to the 2016 Ghana general election. Upon winning the elections, the President, Nana Akuffo Addo created the Ministry of Regional Reorganization to oversee policy formulation and implementation. In all six new regions are to be created from the existing ten regions of Ghana. The other regions are Bono, Western North, Ahafo, Savannah, North East, and Oti regions.

Emmaunuel Owusu-Mainu is a Ghanaian educationist and politician. He was the member of parliament for the Atebubu-Amantin Constituency in the fourth and fifth Parliaments of the Fourth Republic of Ghana.
