The Rescuer City distinction is an honorary award established by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy to celebrate the humanitarianism, charity, and solidarity that different foreign cities shared with the Ukrainian people to defend the ideals of freedom, peace, and democracy. The award also represents the support given the city's residents to Ukraine's defense of its national independence and sovereignty while resisting against Russia's armed aggression during its invasion of Ukraine.
The distinction is given to cities of foreign states whose residents provided substantial humanitarian protection and other kinds of assistance to citizens of Ukraine forced to leave the nation during the invasion, as well as for those who gave significant support to the nation of Ukraine in its defense of its national identity, culture, and self-determination. Hero of Ukraine is the highest national decoration that can be conferred upon an individual citizen by the President of Ukraine.
The 128th Mountain Assault Brigade is a formation of the Ukrainian Ground Forces.
The Order of Merit first, second or third class, is the Ukrainian order of merit, given to individuals for outstanding achievements in economics, science, culture, military or political spheres of activity. It was first established by Ukrainian president Leonid Kuchma on September 22, 1996.
The Cross of Ivan Mazepa is an award of the President of Ukraine. The Cross was instituted on March 26, 2009 by the President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko to honour citizens of Ukraine, foreign citizens or stateless persons for significant contribution to the revival of national, cultural, artistic, spiritual, architectural, military and historical heritage of Ukraine, for achievements in state, diplomatic, humanistic, scientific, educational and charitable activity.
Oksana Serhiyivna Markarova is a Ukrainian politician and the current Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States since February 2021. Markarova is also a former Minister of Finance in the government of Volodymyr Groysman and Oleksiy Honcharuk. In 2001, she completed a master's degree in Public Finance and Trade at Indiana University.
Lieutenant General Serhiy Petrovych Korniychuk is a Ukrainian army officer who became the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on 27 March 2020. General Korniychuk was dismissed as Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on 28 July 2021.
Valerii Fedorovych Zaluzhnyi is a Ukrainian four-star general and diplomat who is currently serving as Ambassador of Ukraine to the United Kingdom. He served as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from 27 July 2021 until 8 February 2024. He was also concurrently a member of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.
Inna Mykolaivna Derusova was a Ukrainian military medic who was the first woman to be posthumously awarded the Hero of Ukraine distinction.
Sviatoslav Yaroslavovych Palamar ('Kalyna') is a captain and the current deputy commander of the Azov regiment within the National Guard of Ukraine. During the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, Palamar was involved in fighting Russian forces during the siege of Mariupol, within the Azovstal steelworks.
Ihor Ivanovych Tantsyura is a Ukrainian general and was the commander of the Territorial Defense Forces from 15 May 2022 until 9 October 2023.
Kyrylo Oleksiiovych Budanov is a Ukrainian military leader who has served as the chief of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine since August 2020. Budanov previously served as the deputy director of one of the departments of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine. He holds the rank of lieutenant general.
Mykola Mykolaiovych Oleshchuk is a Ukrainian lieutenant general who served as the commander of the Ukrainian Air Force from 2021 to 2024.
The Walk of the Brave was laid in Kyiv on the initiative of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy for the 31st anniversary of Ukraine's independence. The place was not chosen by chance, because it was on the Constitution Square opposite the Verkhovna Rada.
Dmytro Ivanovych "Da Vinci" Kotsiubailo was a Ukrainian volunteer, soldier, lieutenant, a commander of the 1st Mechanized Battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was a participant in the Russo-Ukrainian War. Kotsiubailo was the youngest battalion commander in the history of the Ukrainian Army. He served as a leader of the right-wing Right Sector movement.
The Decorations of the President of Ukraine for Humanitarian Participation in the Anti-Terrorist Operation is the state award of Ukraine and was established by the President of Ukraine to honor those who deserve recognition for their contributions to counterterrorism operations in the Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts, including employees of businesses, institutions, and organizations, as well as other individuals who actively participated in such operations or voluntarily ensured their successful execution.

Oleksandr Serhiiovych Pivnenko is a Ukrainian athlete, serviceman, and the commander of the National Guard of Ukraine (NGU). He is also a member of the Headquarters of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief since July 25, 2023. He currently holds the rank of Brigadier general, and is also awarded with the title Hero of Ukraine.
The Cross of Military Merit is a state award of Ukraine, a distinction of the President of Ukraine established to recognize servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations formed in accordance with the laws of Ukraine for outstanding personal bravery and courage or an outstanding heroic act during a combat mission in conditions of danger to life and direct contact with the enemy; outstanding success in commanding troops (forces) during military (combat) operations.
The 1st Presidential Operational Brigade named after Hetman Petro Doroshenko "Bureviy" is a unit of the National Guard of Ukraine, and is part of the Northern Operational Zone. The brigade was formed in 2014 in response to the beginning of the War in Donbas.
