John William Snow is an American economist,attorney,and businessman who is the former CEO of CSX Corporation and served as the 73rd United States secretary of the treasury under U.S. President George W. Bush. He replaced Secretary Paul H. O'Neill on February 3,2003 and was succeeded by Henry Paulson on July 3,2006. Snow submitted a letter of resignation on May 30,2006,effective "after an orderly transition period for my successor." Snow announced on June 29,2006 that he had completed his last day on the job;Robert M. Kimmitt served as acting secretary until Paulson was sworn in. Snow has since worked as chairman of Cerberus Capital Management.
Paul Henry O'Neill was an American businessman and government official who served as the 72nd United States secretary of the treasury for part of President George W. Bush's first term,from January 2001 to December 2002. Secretary Paul H. O'Neill resigned from the Treasury Department on December 6,2002. Prior to his term as secretary of the treasury,O'Neill was chairman and CEO of industrial giant Alcoa and chairman of the RAND Corporation.
Mark Traecey Patrick Kimmitt is the former Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs,serving under George W. Bush from August 2008 to January 2009;he was the 16th person to hold the post. Prior to joining the State Department,he was a brigadier general in the United States Army,and served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Middle East. Kimmitt has also served as deputy director for strategy and plans for the United States Central Command,and deputy director for operations/chief military spokesman for coalition forces in Iraq,and served at NATO's SHAPE headquarters in Belgium.

Robert Michael Gates is an American intelligence analyst and university president who served as the 22nd United States secretary of defense from 2006 to 2011. He was appointed by President George W. Bush and was retained by President Barack Obama. Gates began his career serving as an officer in the United States Air Force but was quickly recruited by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). Gates served for twenty-six years in the CIA and at the National Security Council,and was director of central intelligence under President George H. W. Bush from 1991 to 1993. After leaving the CIA,Gates became president of Texas A&M University and was a member of several corporate boards. Gates served as a member of the Iraq Study Group,the bipartisan commission co-chaired by James A. Baker III and Lee H. Hamilton that studied the lessons of the Iraq War.

He was previously a managing director of Goldman Sachs,United States Deputy Secretary of State and U.S. Trade Representative,from February 7,2001,until February 22,2005. Zoellick has been a senior fellow at Harvard's Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs since ending his term with the World Bank. He is currently a Senior Counselor at Brunswick Group.

The Foreign Affairs Policy Board is an advisory board that provides independent advice and opinion to the Secretary of State,the Deputy Secretary of State,and the Director of Policy Planning on matters concerning U.S. foreign policy. The Board reviews and assesses global threats and opportunities,trends that implicate core national security interests,tools and capacities of the civilian foreign affairs agencies,and priorities and strategic frameworks for U.S. foreign policy. The Board meets in a plenary session several times a year at the U.S. Department of State in the Harry S. Truman Building.
