Bireuën Regency is a regency of Aceh, the westernmost province of Indonesia. It is located on the island of Sumatra, and was created on 4 October 1999 from the former western districts of North Aceh Regency. The capital is the town of Bireuën, 105 miles east of the provincial capital, Banda Aceh. The regency covers an area of 1,796.97 square kilometres and had a population of 340,271 people according to the 2000 Census; at the 2010 Census it had a population of 389,288, which had risen to 436,418 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 453,242 - comprising 224,053 males and 229,189 females. It is bordered by the Strait of Malacca on the northeast coastline. Bireuen has been affected by the clashes between the Free Aceh Movement (GAM) and the government, and by the Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami on 26 December 2004.
Bengkalis Regency is a regency of Indonesia in Riau Province. The regency was originally established in 1956 and then included most of the northern part of the province, but on 4 October 1999 it was divided up, with most of the territory being split off to form the new Rokan Hilir Regency, Siak Regency and the city of Dumai. On 19 December 2008 a further five districts were removed to create the new Meranti Islands Regency, leaving eight districts in the Bengkalis Regency. These eight districts has increased since 2010 to eleven by the splitting of existing districts on the Sumatran mainland.
Bulungan Regency is a regency of North Kalimantan Province in Indonesia. It covers an area of 13,181.92 km2 and had a population of 112,663 at the 2010 Census and 151,844 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 165,775. The administrative centre is at Tanjung Selor.
Pelalawan is a regency (kabupaten) of Riau Province, Indonesia. It is located on the island of Sumatra. The regency was created on 4 October 1999 as a result of the division of Kampar Regency, of which it was previously the eastern 43%. It now has an area of 13,408.72 km2 and had a population of 301,829 at the 2010 Census and 390,046 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 415,469. The administrative centre is in the large town of Pangkalan Kerinci.
Indragiri Hulu is a landlocked regency (kabupaten) of Riau, Indonesia. It is located on the island of Sumatra. The original regency was split in two on 4 October 1999, with the western half being created as a separate Kuantan Singingi Regency. The regency now has an area of 8,198.71 km2 and had a population of 363,442 at the 2010 census, 408,704 at the 2015 census and 444,548 at the 2020 census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 472,799. The administrative seat of the regency is located at the town of Rengat.
Kampar is a regency (kabupaten) of Riau Province of Indonesia. The regency formerly included a much larger part of Riau Province, but on 4 October 1999 the western districts were split off to form a separate Rokan Hulu Regency, and the eastern districts were split off to form a new Pelalawan Regency. It now has an area of 12,481 km2 and had a population of 688,204 at the 2010 Census, and 841,332 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 860,379. The administrative centre of the regency is located at the town of Bangkinang.
Kuantan Singingi is an inland regency (kabupaten) of Riau Province, Indonesia. It is located on the island of Sumatra. The regency was created on 4 October 1999 from what had been the western half of Indragiri Hulu Regency. It has an area of 7,656.03 km2 and had a population of 292,116 at the 2010 Census and 334,943 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 356,246. The seat of the regency is the town of Teluk Kuantan.
Rokan Hilir is a regency (kabupaten) of Riau Province, on Sumatra island, Indonesia. It was formed on 4 October 1999 from districts which had previously been the northwestern part of Bengkalis Regency. It occupies the lower part of the catchment area of the Rokan River, and has an area of 8,851.59 km2. It had a population of 553,216 at the 2010 census and 637,161 at the 2020 census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 662,546. The administrative centre of the Rokan Hilir Regency is located at the town of Bagansiapiapi.
Siak, is a regency (kabupaten) of Riau Province, on the island of Sumatra, Indonesia. It has an area of 8,556.09 km2 and had a population of 376,742 at the 2010 Census and 457,940 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 480,169, comprising 246,489 males and 233,680 females. The administrative centre of the regency is located at Siak Sri Indrapura in Mempura District. The northern part of this regency contains a large part of the Bukit Batu Biosphere Reserve.
Sukoharjo Regency is a regency in the Central Java province in Indonesia. It covers an area of 493.23 km2 and had a population of 824,238 at the 2010 Census and 907,587 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as of mid-2023 was 932,680. Its administrative centre is in the town of Sukoharjo, about 10 km south of Surakarta. This regency is bordered by the city of Surakarta in the north, Karanganyar Regency in the east, Wonogiri Regency and the Special Region of Yogyakarta in the south as well as Klaten Regency in the west. The regency is part of the metropolitan zone of Surakarta, which is known as Subosukawonosraten.
South Hulu Sungai Regency is one of the regencies (kabupaten) in South Kalimantan province, Indonesia. It had an area of 1,804.94 km2, and a population of 212,485 at the 2010 Census and 228,006 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 237.319. The capital of the regency is the town of Kandangan, which is famous for its culinary ketupat Kandangan.
Central Hulu Sungai Regency is one of the regencies in the Indonesian province of South Kalimantan. The area is 1,770.77 km2 and the population was 243,460 at the 2010 Census and 258,721 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 268,360. The administrative centre is the town of Barabai.
North Hulu Sungai Regency is one of the regencies in the Indonesian province of South Kalimantan. It was created on 26 June 1959 from the trifurcation of the original Hulu Sungai Regency and formerly covered a much larger area in the north of the province, but on 14 July 1965 the northern districts were split off to create a separate Tabalong Regency, and on 25 February 2003 the eastern districts were split off to create a separate Balangan Regency. It now has a land area of 907.72 km2, and had a population of 209,246 at the 2010 Census and 226,727 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as of mid-2023 was 233,412. The capital of the regency is the town of Amuntai.
Tabalong Regency is the most northerly of the regencies in the Indonesian province of South Kalimantan, on Borneo Island. It was created on 14 July 1965 by splitting off the former northern districts of North Hulu Sungai Regency. It has a land area of 3,553.36 km2, and had a population at the 2010 Census of 218,620 and 253,305 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as of mid-2023 was 262,631. The administrative capital is the town of Tanjung. The Regency's motto is "Saraba Kawa".
North Aceh Regency is a regency in Indonesia's Aceh Province - which was formerly called the Aceh special territory in 1959–2001), and then Nanggroë Aceh Darussalam in 2001–2009), before reverting to Aceh Province in 2009. It is located on the island of Sumatra. The regency covers an area of 3,296.86 square kilometres and had a population of 534,085 at the 2010 census and 602,793 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 624,582.
Bintan Regency is an administrative area in the Riau Islands Province of Indonesia. Bintan Regency includes all of Bintan Island and also includes many outlying islands including the Tambelan Archipelago and Badas Islands situated between Bintan and West Kalimantan; altogether there are 273 islands comprising the regency.
Southwest Aceh Regency is a regency in the Aceh Province of Indonesia. The regency was created on 10 April 2002 from the northwestern districts of South Aceh Regency. It is located on the west side of the island of Sumatra. The regency covers an area of 1,882.99 square kilometres and according to the 2010 census had a population of 126,036; this rose to 140,366 at the 2015 Census, and to 150,775 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 156,990. The seat of the regency government is the town of Blangpidie.
Boalemo is a regency of Gorontalo Province, Indonesia. It is located on the northern peninsula of the island of Sulawesi. It was established in 1999 under Law Number 50/1999. It has an area of 1,830.87 km2, and had a population of 129,253 at the 2010 Census and 145,868 at the 2020 census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 151,337. The seat of the regency administration is the town of Tilamuta.
West Kotawaringin Regency is one of the thirteen regencies which comprise the Central Kalimantan Province on the island of Kalimantan (Borneo), Indonesia. It originally comprised the whole western part of the province, having been split from a single Kotawaringin Regency on 26 June 1959 into separate regencies for West and East Kotawaringin, but on 10 April 2002 the most westerly districts of West Kotawaringin were split off to form the new Lamandau Regency and Sukamara Regency. The residual West Kotawaringin Regency has a land area of about 10,816.56 km2, and its population was 235,803 at the 2010 Census and 270,388 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 280,812. The large town of Pangkalan Bun in Arut Selatan District is the capital of West Kotawaringin Regency.
Sukamara Regency is one of the thirteen regencies which comprise the Central Kalimantan Province on the island of Kalimantan (Borneo), Indonesia. It was created on 10 April 2002 from the former southwest part of West Kotawaringin Regency. The town of Padang contains the administrative centre of Sukamara Regency, and had a population of 6,555 in mid 2023. The Regency covers an area of 3,827 km2, and had a population of 44,952 at the 2010 Census and 63,464 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 63,039.
