The rough cownose ray (Rhinoptera adspersa) is a species of eagle ray in the genus Rhinoptera .
The species occurs in the Indo-West Pacific off India, Malaysia, and the East Indies. The validity of this species is questioned though in Compagno's 1999 checklist. [1]
It is also found off the coast of Ajman, United Arab Emirates, as mentioned in a picture of this species in Ajman Museum (which is located in the Emirate of Ajman) as follows: (غُرابي, Rhinopetra adspersa, eagle ray).
Its maximum length is 99 cm (39 in). [1]
Stingrays are a group of sea rays, a type of cartilaginous fish. They are classified in the suborder Myliobatoidei of the order Myliobatiformes and consist of eight families: Hexatrygonidae, Plesiobatidae, Urolophidae (stingarees), Urotrygonidae, Dasyatidae, Potamotrygonidae, Gymnuridae and Myliobatidae . Ajman International Airport is an upcoming airport which is currently a construction project in Ajman, the smallest emirate of the United Arab Emirates. Ajman is surrounded on its landlocked north, south and eastern borders by Sharjah. The airport is being constructed in the eastern district of Ajman, in the Al Manama enclave. The project is worth $571 million and the airport is forecasted to accommodate for 1 million passengers and a minimum of 400,000 tonnes of cargo a year when completed. Euzetia is the only genus in the subfamily Euzetiinae, a group of flatworms which parasitize Elasmobranchs. As of 2008, only two species have been described in the genus, however others may remain undescribed. The genus consists of Euzetia occultum, which is the type species for the genus, and Euzetia lamothei, which was described in 2008. E. occultum parasitizes the Australian cownose ray, Rhinoptera neglecta, while E. lamothei parasitizes a different species in the same genus, the cownose ray, Rhinoptera bonasus. Both species inhabit the gills of their respective hosts. The genus is differentiated from other genera based on the morphology of the haptor, and is named for the French parasitologist Louis Euzet.
