Pakistan Television Corporation is the Pakistani state-owned broadcaster. Founded on 26 November 1964 as a private company by NEC of Japan, PTV was nationalised by the Pakistani government.in 1970, due to low revenue. For most of the 20th century, the PTV enjoyed a monopoly in the broadcasting industry until the early 2000s and was one of the two major Television networks in the country. The end of PTV's monopoly in 2000 led to a boom in electronic media in Pakistan, which gained greater political influence in country's political spectrum.

Iftikhar Ahmad (journalist) journalist

Agha Iftikhar Ahmad is a Pakistani research journalist and a political activist. Ahmad started his career in 1980, after his release from jail and joined Jang Media Network and held a senior position in the Network. Ahmad is currently serving as Director of Elections, Investigations, Special Projects, and Research (EISPAR) for the Geo News Network (GNN). Iftikhar Ahmad also hosted interview show Jawab Deyh on Geo News TV channel for over 10 years.

Geo News is a Pakistani pay television news channel owned by the Independent Media Corporation, a company owner of the Jang Group of Newspapers.

The 12 May Karachi violence, also known as Black Saturday riots, were a series of violent clashes between rival political activists in Karachi. The unrest began as the recently suspended chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry arrived at the Jinnah International Airport on 12 May 2007. Gunfights and clashes erupted across the provincial capital as Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Awami National Party (ANP), and Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PMAP) activists, who supported the judge, and the pro-government Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) activists took to the streets against each other. Government machinery was used to block all major roads. Police was accomplice and a silent spectator to the violence. News media was attacked at Guru mandir when MQM activists began firing at AAJ TV headquarters which was shown on live television.

Media in Pakistan provides information on television, radio, cinema, newspapers, and magazines in Pakistan. Pakistan has a vibrant media landscape; among the most dynamic in South Asia. Majority of media in Pakistan is privately owned. Pakistan has around 300 privately owned daily newspapers. According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, they had a combined daily sale of 6.1 million copies in 2009. Television is the main source of news and information for people in Pakistan's towns, cities and large areas of the countryside. Marketing research company Gallup Pakistan, estimated there were 86 million TV viewers in Pakistan in 2009.

Nickelodeon (Pakistani TV channel) Pakistani feed of Nickelodeon

Nickelodeon Pakistan or Nick Pakistan, is the Pakistani feed of Nickelodeon, which is operated by domestic media company ARY Group's Digital Network subsidiary under a brand licensing and programming agreement with ViacomCBS Networks EMEAA. The network transmits over the AsiaSat 7 satellite to cable and satellite viewers in Pakistan and features some portions of the schedule dubbed or subtitled in Urdu, along with some content directly imported from its Indian sister network. It also occasionally licenses Western market children's films.

Geo Super

Geo Super is the first 24-hour Karachi based Pakistani channel dedicated to the world of sports. It is owned by the Jang Group of Newspapers.

Dunya News

Dunya News is a 24 hours Urdu language news and current affairs television channel from Pakistan. It is governed and operated by the National Communication Services (NCS) Pvt. Ltd. Its head office is situated at Lahore, Pakistan. Dunya News was founded and is owned by Pakistani businessman and politician Mian Amer Mahmood, and is part of the larger Punjab Group of Colleges (PGC) group of universities, colleges and organizations. It is home to numerous, news-centric television shows, like Dunya Kamran Khan Kay Sath, On The Front as well as satirical infotainment shows like Hasb-e-Haal.

Mubasher Lucman is a Pakistani film director-turned-journalist and former caretaker provincial minister in Punjab caretaker ministry in 2007–08. He currently hosts a talk show Khara Sach.

Aaj News

Aaj News is a 24-hour Pakistani news television channel. The word Aaj in English means "Today". It is a privately owned Urdu language TV station which covers national and international news.

The Mediagate, is a common term describing a period of political competition in Pakistan, which eventually led to a media scandal between some mainstream televised news channels, hosted by their anchors and correspondents. On 15 June 2012, an anonymous off-air camera discussion was released on YouTube, it quickly grasped the media industry and attracted the nationwide attention.

Din News Pakistani 24-hour news channel

Din News HD is a Pakistani 24-hour news channel. It is an Urdu language private channel based in Lahore. It started its broadcasting on January 1, 2005, running by the Din Media Group. They are also publisher of Din Newspaper.

Geo Entertainment or Geo Drama is a Pakistani entertainment television channel owned by Geo Television Network was established in May 2002. Its test transmission started on 14 August 2002 on the PAS 10 digital satellite whereas on 1 October 2002 the regular transmission of Geo Entertainment was started.

<i>Inaam Ghar Plus</i>

Inaam Ghar Plus was a Geo Entertainment's presented television game show in Pakistan. It is based in Karachi and was hosted by Aamir Liaquat Hussain. The show returned on 13 February 2015 on Geo TV as part of Liaquat's return to the network.

BOL Network

BOL Network is a media conglomerate based in Karachi owned by Shoaib Ahmed Shaikh, who also served as the CEO and chairman of the media network. According to Declan Walsh Bol Network was under the auspices of the fake diploma mill Axact. The media group was supposed to incorporate television, digital media, cinema and theater as well as digital media, but when the parent company of Bol, Axact, was unmasked as a diploma mill selling fake degrees Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority revoked the licence that it had awarded BOL, and the network was not even able to start transmission. Pakistani journalist Kamran Khan was appointed as the editor in chief, but he quit after the Axact scandal surfaced and stated that his conscience did not let him be affiliated with such a network.

Dunya Kamran Khan Kay Sath is a television current affairs talk show on Dunya News. It is one of the most watched and influential current affairs shows on Pakistan's Dunya News TV channel. The program is hosted by Pakistan's renowned investigative journalist, Kamran Khan. Mr Khan has been part of the country's media industry for 34 years. His show tries to untangle the twists and turns of Pakistani politics, social and economic issues. The program covers major national, regional and international stories through a combination of high-profile interviews, special reports, commentary and analysis. It is broadcast live from Karachi from 9:30 to 11:00 pm, Monday to Friday.
