SAIF Partners is a stage and sector agnostic private equity firm in Asia. SAIF Partners currently manages over $4 billion in capital. [2] The firm has offices in Hong Kong, China, and India.

History

SAIF Partners was started as Softbank Asia Infrastructure Fund in 2001 with a $400 million fund where Cisco Systems and Softbank Group were the sole limited partner, and general partner, respectively. [3] Some of the previous Softbank Asia Infrastructure members started SAIF Partners in 2004 under its present name. [4]

Founder

Andrew Yan is the founder and managing partner of SAIF Partners. Yan has invested in online retailer Vancl.com, media and branding company Acorn International, Global Education & Technology Group, which was acquired by UK-based Pearson Group for $150 million in 2011, and Giant Interactive Group, which went public in 2007. Currently, Yan is a director at companies including China Offshore Oil Service, China Resources Land, Fosun International, Stone Group Holdings, and Digital China Holdings, all of which are listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. Yan graduated in Engineering from Nanjing Aeronautic Institute. He has done Master of Arts in Sociology & Economics from Peking University. He also holds a Master of Arts in International Political Economy from the Princeton University. [6]

China Investments

SAIF China has offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Xiamen, Changzhou, Hefei, Shenzhen, and Hangzhou. Their investments in China include 56.com, Bona Film Group, Tantan, [7] China Huiyuan Juice Group and COFCO’s Womai.com., Meici and yMatou.com, Meize Wind Blade, NVC Lighting and Guodian Technology & Environment, Biosensors International, Dnurse, Hua Xi, [8] and Sinovac. Skyscanner is a metasearch engine and travel agency based in Edinburgh, Scotland and owned by Trip.com Group, the largest online travel agency in China. The site is available in over 30 languages and is used by 100 million people per month. The company lets people research and book travel options for their trips, including flights, hotels and car hire.

Hillhouse Capital Group

Hillhouse Capital Group (高瓴资本) is a Chinese global private equity firm focused on investments in East Asia and Southeast Asia. It was founded by Lei Zhang in Beijing in 2005 with US$20 million in seed capital from the Yale Endowment. Hillhouse has offices in Beijing, Hong Kong and Singapore.

Suning Holdings Group

Suning Holdings Group Co., Ltd. is a Chinese privately-held company. The company shared the same founder Zhang Jindong with the listed company Suning.com, but Suning Holdings was the unlisted portion of Zhang's unincorporated Suning Group.
