Sable Aviation (legal name Sable Aviation 44 60 Incorporated) is an on-demand aircraft charter company operating from the Gateway Facilities hangar/FBO at the Halifax Stanfield International Airport whose primary role is to provide fixed wing service to Sable Island.
Sable Aviation began operations in June 2016, although the same aircraft and pilot had been flying to Sable Island since 2006 with another locally based company. Sable Aviation operates a Britten-Norman BN-2A-21 Islander, [3] with an oversize tire modification that allows it to land safely on the sandy south beach of Sable. The flights run year-round on an as-needed basis, providing support to the Sable Island Station by bringing out supplies, station personnel, researchers, contractors, etc. Sable Aviation also flies out tourist groups who are interested in visiting the Sable Island National Park Reserve.

Sable Island Aerodrome,, is located on Sable Island, Nova Scotia, Canada. The term aerodrome is somewhat of a misnomer since there is no actual airport infrastructure nor is there a runway on Sable Island. The designated landing area is the hard sand of the island's south beach. It has been registered as an aerodrome in order to facilitate approval of a GPS approach. Sable Aviation operates a Britten-Norman Islander that makes regular flights to the beach from Halifax Stanfield International Airport; it is the contracted fixed wing service provider for Sable Island.

Air Canada Flight 624 was a scheduled Canadian domestic passenger flight from Toronto Pearson International Airport to Halifax Stanfield International Airport in Halifax, Nova Scotia. During heavy snow and poor visibility, at 00:43 ADT on 29 March 2015, the Airbus A320-211 landed short of the runway and was severely damaged. Twenty-six people were injured.
