Katsina State is a state in the northwestern geopolitical zone of Nigeria. Katsina State borders Kaduna,Zamfara,Kano,and Jigawa States. Nicknamed the "Home of Hospitality",both the state capital and the town of Daura have been described "ancient seats of Islamic culture and learning" in Nigeria.

Barewa College is a college in Zaria,Kaduna State,northern Nigeria. Founded in 1921 by British Governor General Hugh Clifford,it was originally known as Katsina College. It switched its name to Kaduna College in 1938 and to Government College,Zaria in 1949 before settling on Barewa College. It is one of the largest boarding schools in Northern Nigeria and was the most-celebrated post-primary schools there up to the early 1960s. The school is known for the large number of elites from the region who attended and counts among its alumni include Tafawa Balewa who was Prime Minister of Nigeria from 1960 to 1966,four heads of state of Nigeria. The school is located along Gaskiya road in the Tukur -Tukur area of Zaria.
National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Kuru,Nigeria is a policy formation center for bureaucrats,private sector leaders,military officers,and medium-rank and senior civil servants,which was founded in 1979. Most policymakers in Nigeria have attended the NIPSS. Its first Director General was Major General Ogundeko. The current Director General is Professor Tijjanii Muhammad-Bande (OFR). Notable graduates of the NIPSS are General Ibrahim Babangida the former Nigerian Head of State,and Comrade Ajayi Olusegun,the former Director General of Nigeria Policy Study and Mallam Nuhu Ribadu,the anti-corruption campaigner.
Mahmud Kanti Bello was Nigerian senator who represented Katsina North Senatorial District of Katsina State,on the platform of People's Democratic Party and was the Senate majority whip. He became senator in 2003 and was re-elected in 2007. He represented Daura Senatorial Zone between 2003 and 2007 and for the second time after reelection,from 2007 to 2011. He was the pioneer Managing Director of Katsina Steel Rolling Mill.
Ibrahim Coomassie was a Nigerian police officer and the 9th Inspector General of Nigerian Police serving between 1993 and 1999,under the military governments of Generals Sani Abacha and Abdulsalami Abubakar. He died on Thursday 19 July 2018 after a protracted illness. He was 76 years old.

Alhaji Faruk Umar Faruk or Umar Faruk Umar is the 60th Emir of the Daura Emirate. The Emirate is based in the town of Daura in Katsina State,northern Nigeria.
Aminu Bello Masari is a Nigerian politician who served as governor of Katsina State from 2015 to 2023. He was the Commissioner for works,housing and transport Katsina state from 1991 to 1993. He was the speaker of the Nigerian House of Representatives between 2003 and 2007. Masari hails from Masari village of Kafur local government area of Katsina State.
The 2023 Katsina State gubernatorial election will take place on 18 March 2023,to elect the Governor of Katsina State,concurrent with elections to the Katsina State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. The election—which was postponed from its original 11 March date—will be held three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent APC Governor Aminu Bello Masari is term-limited and cannot seek re-election to a third term.
The 2023 Nigerian Senate elections in Katsina State will be held on 25 February 2023,to elect the 3 federal Senators from Katsina State,one from each of the state's three senatorial districts. The elections will coincide with the 2023 presidential election,as well as other elections to the Senate and elections to the House of Representatives;with state elections being held two weeks later. Primaries were held between 4 April and 9 June 2022.
