Abdullahi Sarki Mukhtar (born 5 July 1949,in Kano State,Nigeria) was formerly the National security adviser to the president of Nigeria. Rtd Major General Mukhtar was also a former military governor of Kaduna state and Katsina State,in the case of the latter he was the first administrator or governor.
He had a fairly prominent army career culminating with his appointment as the general officer commanding the first division,Nigerian army in Kaduna state,before that,he was the Chief of Staff of a peace keeping force in Liberia. [1] The retired general was one of the few serving high-ranking officers in the middle of the 1990s who voiced concerns over the detention and trial of the former President Obasanjo and his former deputy Shehu Musa Yar'Adua. [2] He is known as a principled and charismatic officer who earned the respect of President Obasanjo when he refused to budge to the demands of Sani Abacha,on the treatment of coups suspects in 1995.[ citation needed ] From January 23,2002,to May 30,2003,he administrated the Embassy of Nigeria in Moscow and was also accredited to Minsk. The Nigerian Armed Forces (NAF) are the combined military forces of Nigeria. It consists of three uniformed service branches:the Nigerian Army,Nigerian Navy,and Nigerian Air Force. The President of Nigeria functions as the commander-in-chief of the armed forces,exercising his constitutional authority through the Ministry of Defence,which is responsible for the management of the military and its personnel. The operational head of the AFN is the Chief of the Defence Staff,who is subordinate to the Nigerian Defence Minister. The NDC is chaired by the president,and its members include the Vice President of Nigeria,the Minister of Defence,the Chief of Defence Staff,the Chief of Army Staff,the Chief of Naval Staff and the Chief of Air Staff,as well as others the president is empowered to appoint. With a force of more than 223,000 active personnel,the Nigerian military is one of the largest uniformed combat services in Africa. According to Global Firepower,the Nigerian Armed Forces are the fourth-most powerful military in Africa,and ranked 35th on its list,internationally.
Murtala Ramat Muhammad(listen) was a Nigerian general who led the 1966 Nigerian counter-coup in overthrowing the Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi military regime and featured prominently during the Nigerian Civil War and thereafter ruled over Nigeria from 30 July 1975 until his assassination on 13 February 1976. This period in Nigerian history,from the Northern counter-coup victory to Murtala's death,is commonly associated with the institutionalization of the military in politics.
Abubakar Dangiwa Umar was governor of Kaduna state in Nigeria from August 1985 to June 1988 during the military regime of General Ibrahim Babangida. After retiring from the army in 1993,he became a social critic and the founder of Movement for Unity and Progress,a political party.

The National Security Organization (NSO) of Nigeria,or Nigerian Security Organization,was created under Decree number 27 of 1976 by the military regime of Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo,after the failed Dimka coup which claimed the life of former Head of State Gen. Murtala Mohammed. The NSO was given a mandate of co-ordinating Internal Security,Foreign Intelligence and counterintelligence activities. It was charged with the detection and prevention of any crime against the security of the state,with the protection of classified materials,and with carrying out any other security missions assigned by the president.

John Mark Inienger was a Nigerian Army major general who served as ECOMOG field commander in Liberia,governor of Bendel State between 1985 and 1987,during the military administration of General Ibrahim Babangida,and commander of the Brigade of Guards.
Abdulkareem AdisaListen was a Nigerian major general who was military governor of Oyo State during the military regime of General Ibrahim Babangida. He was convicted for involvement in an attempted coup against military head of state General Sani Abacha in 1997,and was on death row when Abacha died in June 1998. He was subsequently pardoned.

He was a contender for the Kogi West Senatorial District in Kogi State.
Aliyu Mohammed Gusau is a Nigerian general and statesman. He has held several high level national security,military and intelligence offices,and has participated in several military coups,playing a central role in founding the Fourth Nigerian Republic.
Musa Mohammed is a Nigerian politician and Nigerian Army colonel who served as the Administrator of Yobe State,Nigeria from August 1998 to May 1999 during the transitional regime of General Abdulsalami Abubakar. Later he became the Minister of Sports and Social Development from July 2003 to July 2005 during the administration of President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Muktar Muhammed was the military governor of Kaduna State,Nigeria from July 1978 to October 1979 during the military regime of General Olusegun Obasanjo. Wing commander Muktar Muhammed played an active role in the coup that brought General Murtala Mohammed to power,and was appointed to the new Supreme Military Council on 30 July 1975. He was appointed governor of Kaduna State in 1977,in which position he was promoted to Group Captain. He retired from the Service of the Nigerian Air Force at the rank of Air Vice Marshal (AVM).

Shehu Sani is a Nigerian senator,an author,playwright and a human rights activist. He is the President of the Civil Rights Congress of Nigeria - (CRCN). and the Chairman of Hand-in-Hand,Africa. He was a leading figure in the struggle for the restoration of democracy in Nigeria. He has been arrested and jailed by successive past military regimes in Nigeria. He was released from life imprisonment when democracy was restored in Nigeria in 1999. He contested and won the Kaduna Central Senatorial District on the platform of the All Progressive Congress on 28 March 2015.
Lieutenant Colonel Bukar Suwa Dimka was a Nigerian Army officer who played a leading role in the 13 February 1976 abortive military coup against the government of General Murtala Ramat Muhammed. Dimka also participated in the Nigerian counter-coup of 1966 which toppled the government of General Aguiyi Ironsi.
