Group Captain Ernest Olawunmi Adelaye was appointed military governor of Rivers State,Nigeria from July 1988 to August 1990 during the military regime of General Ibrahim Babangida. [1]
He signed the edict establishing the Rivers State Polytechnic on March 25,1989 and performed the formal ceremony of the institution on May 19,1990. [2]
He retired with the rank of air vice marshal. [3]

The Benue State Polytechnic is a tertiary education institute in Ugbokolo,Okpokwu LGA,Benue State,Nigeria. The current Rector is Dr. Usman David Kuti. It was originally known as the Murtala College of Arts,Science and Technology,established in 1977 by the military governor of Benue State,Colonel Abdullahi Shelleng (1976–1978). In 1983,the college's Department of Agriculture of the College was merged with Akperan Orshi College of Agriculture. The school is approved as a state-owned polytechnic by the National Board for Technical Education.

Colonel (retired) Bzigu Lassa Afakirya was the Military Administrator of Kogi State,Nigeria from August 1996 to August 1998 during the military regime of General Sani Abacha. When he assumed office he dissolved and reconstituted the Local Government Service Commission. Following the return to democracy,as a former military administrator he was required to retire from the army. In October 2005,he was awarded fellowship of the Kogi State Polytechnic.
