Navy Commodore Anthony E. Oguguo // ( listen ) was military governor of Imo State in Nigeria from 1990 to 1992 during the military regime of General Ibrahim Babangida. [1] During his administration,Imo State airport was commissioned and built and still operates today. He very famously said "I saw money and looked away,it is not everything;we can all do the same and teach it to our children."
His administration took a strong hold with Trade Unions. In 1991,he demanded a list of absentee workers who were striking for a minimum wage of N380. [2] As governor,he commissioned the 100 bed Osina Community hospital in 1991. [3] He was a member of the Provisional Ruling Council (PRC),and was involved in the decisions about the transition to democracy,leading to the short-lived Nigerian Third Republic. [4]
He was a member of a coalition of Enugu State elders who spoke out against the government for alleged involvement in the killing of 14 Catholic worshippers at the Government Technical College in March 2002. They were protesting state action against a church leader. [5] In August 2002,he was an aspirant to be a governorship candidate for Enugu State on All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) platform. [6] By January 2003,the ANPP had still not settled on their candidate. [7] Anthony Oguguo and two others walked out of the primary convention over alleged discrepancies on delegates lists,and the remaining candidate Chief Fidel Ayogu was announced the winner but failed to win in the general elections. In April 2009,he transferred his allegiance to the ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP). [9] In October 2009,he was among PDP elders who criticized the actions of Enugu State governor Sullivan Chime in his feud with Joseph Onoh,son of the former Anambra State governor Christian Onoh. [10]
Enugu State is a state in the South-East geopolitical zone of Nigeria,bordered to the north by the states of Benue and Kogi,Ebonyi State to the east and southeast,Abia State to the south,and Anambra State to the west. The state takes its name from its capital and largest city,Enugu.
The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN),formerly known as Action Congress (AC),was a Nigerian political party formed via the merger of a faction of Alliance for Democracy,the Justice Party,the Advance Congress of Democrats,and several other minor political parties in September 2006. The party controlled Lagos. Lagos,Edo,Ekiti,Kogi,Ondo,Bauchi,Plateau,Niger,Adamawa,Oyo and Osun states by far accounts for majority of the party's presence and discernible power base.
James Ifeanyichukwu Nwobodo is a Nigerian businessman and politician who was governor of Anambra State (1979–1983) during the Nigerian Second Republic and was Senator for Enugu East Senatorial District in Enugu State (1999–2003). In 2003,he ran unsuccessfully in the Nigerian Presidential elections.
Christian Chukuwuma Onoh,popularly known as CC Onoh,was a Nigerian businessman and lawyer who became governor of Anambra State in 1983 at the end of the Nigerian Second Republic. He was also the father-in-law of Emeka Ojukwu.

The 2019 Imo State gubernatorial election in Nigeria occurred on March 9,2019. PDP's Emeka Ihedioha polled 38.29% of the total votes,defeating APC's Uche Nwosu who got 26.66% of popular votes,and several minor party candidates. Out of 27 LGAs,Ihedioha won in 11,while Nwosu won in 10.

The 2023 Nigerian gubernatorial elections will be held for state governors in 31 out of 36 Nigerian states. All but three elections will be held on 11 March—concurrent with elections to every state house of assembly,two weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections—while the Imo State,Kogi State,and Bayelsa State elections will be held on 11 November. The last regular gubernatorial elections for all states were in 2019. All states have a two term limit for Governors which makes 18 incumbent governors ineligible for re-election.
The 2023 Enugu State gubernatorial election will take place on 11 March 2023,to elect the Governor of Enugu State,concurrent with elections to the Enugu State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. The election will be held two weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent PDP Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi is term-limited and cannot seek re-election to a third term.
The 2023 Nigerian Senate elections in Enugu State will be held on 25 February 2023,to elect the 3 federal Senators from Enugu State,one from each of the state's three senatorial districts. The elections will coincide with the 2023 presidential election,as well as other elections to the Senate and elections to the House of Representatives;with state elections being held two weeks later. Primaries were held between 4 April and 9 June 2022.
