Crown Uzama [4] (born April 12, 2000), known professionally as Shallipopi, is a Nigerian singer, rapper, and songwriter. He signed with Dvpper Music in 2023, [5] and rose to fame with his single "Elon Musk". [6] It moderately entered the TurnTable chart, while his debut studio album Presido La Pluto (2023) peaked at number one on the TurnTable Top 50 [7] and debuted atop Apple Music top 100 albums. [8] [9] His second studio album, Shakespopi (2024), was met with continued success as it became Shallipopi's second chart-topping album. Its lead single "ASAP" reached number one on the TurnTable Top 100. [10] [11]

Career

Shallipopi started his career making freestyles, and posting them on TikTok and other social media platforms. He made a breakthrough with the release of his single "Elon Musk". [12]

On 20 June 2023, Apple Music announced Shallipopi as the latest featured artist in its Up Next artist development program in Nigeria. [13] [14] On 30 June, he released the remix of "Elon Musk" featuring Fireboy DML and Zlatan. [15] [16]

On 7 July 2023, he released the single "Ex-Convict", which debuted at number 6 on the TurnTable Top 100. [17] [18] On 11 July 2023 his EP Planet Pluto. [19] On 17 October 2023, he launched his own record label after signing to Dvpper Music Distribution with his music acts Zerry DL and Tega Boi. Shallipopi signed them the day he launched the record label. [20] [21]

Personal life

Uzama graduated from Auchi Polytechnic in 2023 with a Computer Science degree. [22]

EFCC charges

On 30 May 2023 the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission arrested Shallipopi, his manager and others for alleged Internet-related fraud. [23] [24] Shallipopi, his manager and others were convicted on 23 June 2023 and sentenced to two years imprisonment with the "option of fines". [25]

"Peru" is a song by Nigerian singer Fireboy DML. It was released on 20 July 2021, through YBNL Nation, and distributed by Empire. "Peru" was written by Fireboy DML, Ivory Scott, & Kolten Perine and produced by Shizzi & Perine. On 23 December 2021, a reworked version of "Peru" was released, in collaboration with English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran. The music video for the version with Sheeran was released on 24 December 2021. An additional remix, featuring rappers 21 Savage and Blxst was also later released. The song was nominated at the 7th annual African Entertainment Awards USA for Song of the Year. In 2020, he became the third Nigerian Afrobeats producer in history to be certified by Syndicat National de l'Édition Phonographique (SNEP) after Burna Boy’s "Ye" became a certified gold record in France. Shakespopi is the second studio album by Nigerian singer Shallipopi. It was released through Plutomania Records and Dvpper Music on April 11, 2024. It serves as the follow-up to his previous album, Presido La Pluto (2023).

Plutomania Records, abbreviated as PTMR, is a Nigerian record label founded by Afrofunk singer Shallipopi in 2023 as a joint venture. The label was created for both parties to mutually manage the career and recording catalogue of rising artists. As of 2024, the label has signed artists like Zerrydl and Tegaboi dc. PTMR also has a special profit-sharing business deal with Dapper Music.

ASAP is a song by Nigerian singer Shallipopi released by Plutomania Records and Dapper Music on April 11, 2024 as the lead single from his second album Shakespopi (2024). It was produced by Producer X and Signal the Plug.
