The Shankar Vihar metro station is a stop on the Magenta Line of the Delhi Metro. This represents part of the third phase of development of the Delhi Metro. [1] It was opened to public on 29 May 2018. It is the only station in the Delhi Metro network where free movement of civilians is restricted, as it falls in the Delhi Cantonment area and "right in heart of defence zone". [2]

As the station lies completely inside an army unit, the commuters are required to carry defence ID cards to take exit from the station. [3]

Lajpat Nagar is an interchange station between Violet Line and Pink Line of the Delhi Metro in Delhi. It is located between Jangpura and Moolchand on the Violet Line in Lajpat Nagar. The station was opened with the first section of the Violet Line on 3 October 2010, in time for the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony on the same day. It became an interchange station with the opening of the Pink Line on 6 August 2018. The station on the Pink Line is underground, whereas the Violet line station is elevated. However, both the lines are seamlessly connected, without commuters having to exit the ticketed area to interchange from one line to another.
The Magenta Line is a metro rail line of the Delhi Metro, a rapid transit system in Delhi, India and the first driverless metro in India. The total length of the line is 37.46 kilometers (23.28 mi) and it consists of 25 metro stations from Janakpuri West to Botanical Garden, out of which 10 are elevated and the rest are underground. Unlike the Airport Metro Express, this line directly serves Terminal 1 of the Indira Gandhi International Airport.
