Shaukat Ali Yousafzai (born 1 February 1963) is a Pakistani politician who had been a member of the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from May 2013 till January 2023. He also served as a member of the 10th Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,representing the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and as Minister for Health and Information Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the Pervez Khattak administration. [1] He also serves as the Secretary General of PTI’s provincial chapter of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and previously has served as the political advisor to Imran Khan. [2] [3]
Yousafzai is a senior journalist and a senior leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. He remained the president of Khyber Union of Journalist for three times. He is a Chief Editor of Daily Surkhab which is published from Peshawar. He basically belongs to Besham a remote village of District Shangla,and settled in Peshawar since 90s. He is a member and Deputy Parliamentary Leader of Provincial Assembly KP.Currently he is holding no Ministry in Khyber Pukhtunkhwa. [4]
He obtained his early education from Government High School Shang District Shangla and then his Intermediate from Jehanzeb College Swat. He has done MSc from KP Agricultural University Peshawar. He obtained a degree in Journalism from the University of Peshawar.[ citation needed ]
Yousafzai remained active in politics during his university and was the President of People Student Federation of KP Agricultural University,Peshawar. He joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in 1996 and also contested election from District Shangla. Since from that time,he remained active in politics and given his efforts for establishing PTI in KP. In 2011 he was appointed as Political Advisor to chairman Imran khan. He then resigned from this post to contest intra party election. He was elected as Provincial General Secretary of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in KP. In the 2013 general elections,he contested for Provincial Assembly seats from PK-2 Peshawar and got a huge victory against Syed Zahir Ali Shah of Pakistan People Party with a margin of 16,000 votes. PTI has assigned Shaukat Ali Yousafzai as Deputy Parliamentary Leader in KP Provincial Assembly. He is also serving as Minister for Health and Information Khyber Pukhtunkhwa. He is the most influential Provincial leader of Khyber Pukhtunkhwa province. He got worldwide recognition following a June 14,2019 conference when he was accidentally equipped with a cat face filter by a social media team volunteer. [5] [6]
Shahram Khan Tarakai is a Pakistani politician who was Provincial Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Local Government,Elections and Rural Development,in office from 29 August 2018 till 26 January 2020 and later on Provincial Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education till 14th January 2023 when the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was dissolved by the then Chief Minister on the instructions of Imran Khan. He is currently a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan since February 2024 and had been a member of the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from August 2018 till January 2023.
Amir Muqam is a Pakistani politician who serves as the Federal Minister for Kashmir affairs and Gilgit Baltistan along with States and frontier regions in Shehbaz Sharif cabinet. He is affiliated with PML(N) and serves as its Provincial President in Khyber pakhtunkhwa. He was a close aide to former military dictator Pervez Musharraf. He previously served as advisor to the prime minister on political affairs in the Third Nawaz Sharif ministry and Yousaf Raza Gillani Ministry. He is also a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan. Previously,he was a member of the National Assembly from 2002 to 2007 and again from 2008 to 2013. Muqam has been a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan since February 29,2024.
Pervez Khan Khattak is a Pakistani politician who served as the minister of Defence from August 2018 until April 2022. He had been a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan from August 2018 till January 2023. Prior to that,he served as the 22nd chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from 2013 to 2018,elected to the Provincial Assembly from Nowshera District. He was a senior member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf until July 2023,when he formed his breakaway faction,the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Parliamentarians (PTI-P). On 12 February 2024,he left the chairmanship of the PTI-P and took a break from politics tenders resignation as PTI-P chairman due to ‘health issues’.
Junaid Akbar is a Pakistani politician who has been a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan since February 2024 from NA-9 Malakand,and previously served in this position from August 2018 till January 2023 and from June 2013 to May 2018. General elections were held in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday,25 July 2018 to elect the 51 members of 15th National Assembly from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) obtained a landslide victory in the province by winning 37 general seats and increased their margin of victory from 2013.
