Taimur Saleem Khan Jhagra (born 9 November 1977) is a Pakistani politician who was the Provincial Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Finance and Health,in office since 29 August 2018 till 18 January 2023. He had been a member of the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from August 2018 till January 2023.
Jhagra was born on 9 November 1977 in Peshawar,Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,Pakistan. [2] He is the son of retired federal secretary Mohammad Saleem Khan Jhagra,nephew of late PPP leader and provincial minister Iftikhar Jhagra and grandson of two influential personalities hailing from the province;Mohammad Ibrahim Khan Jhagra,who was a leading figure in the Pakistan movement,and one of the most respected political personalities in the then North West Frontier Province (NWFP);and of Ghulam Ishaq Khan,the influential bureaucrat who served as President of Pakistan between 1988 and 1993. Jhagra received his primary education in Peshawar,at the PAF (Pakistan Air Force) Degree College School,and his secondary education at The New School Rome,Italy. After completing his pre-engineering studies,also from the PAF Degree College Peshawar,Jhagra graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology [2] followed by an MBA (Master of Business Administration) from the London Business School in 2008. Jhagra began his political career after quitting his job as partner at McKinsey &Company. [1]
In January 2018,he joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). [1] Following which he was allocated PTI ticket to contest the 2018 general election from Constituency PK-73 (Peshawar-VIII) despite stiff opposition from within PTI. [5] [6] It was noted that at-least 33 PTI workers had applied for a ticket for Constituency PK-73 (Peshawar-VIII) many of which were locals but PTI decided to allocate the ticket to Jhagra,who is relatively unknown in the constituency. [4]
He was elected to the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as a candidate of PTI from Constituency PK-73 (Peshawar-VIII) in the 2018 general election. [7] He received 15,449 votes and defeated Aman Ullah,a candidate of Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal. [8]
On 29 August 2018,he was inducted into the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial cabinet of Chief Minister Mahmood Khan and was appointed as Provincial Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Finance. [9]
On February 5,2020,he was also given the additional portfolio of Health. [10]
Across health and finance,he has been appreciated for the breadth and depth of reform carried out,which has helped bring Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,a small province,into the limelight as the province leading on reform in the country. [11] [12]
The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,is the provincial government of the Pakistani province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Its powers and structure are set out in the provisions of the 1973 Constitution,in which 32 districts come under its authority and jurisdiction. The government includes the cabinet,selected from members the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly,and the non-political civil staff within each department. The province is governed by a unicameral legislature with the head of government known as the Chief Minister. The Chief Minister,invariably the leader of a political party represented in the Assembly,selects members of the Cabinet. The Chief Minister and Cabinet are thus responsible the functioning of government and are entitled to remain in office so long as it maintains the confidence of the elected Assembly. The head of the province is known as the Governor,appointed by the federal government,on behalf of the President,while the administrative boss of the province is Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Shahram Khan Tarakai is a Pakistani politician who was Provincial Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa of Local Government,Elections and Rural Development,in office from 29 August 2018 till 26 January 2020. He had been a member of the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from August 2018 till January 2023.
Pervez Khan Khattak is a Pakistani politician who served as the Minister of Defence from August 2018 until April 2022. He had been a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan from August 2018 till January 2023. Prior to that,he served as the 22nd Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from 2013 to 2018,elected to the Provincial Assembly from Nowshera District. On 12 February 2024,he left the chairmanship of the PTI-P and took a break from politics tenders resignation as PTI-P chairman due to ‘health issues’.
Asad Qaiser is a Pakistani politician. He is the former Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan,served from August 2018 to April 2022. He had been a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan,from August 2018 till January 2023. Previously,he was the member of the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from 2013 to 2018 and served as the 14th Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly,from May 2013 to August 2018. He is member-elect of the National Assembly of Pakistan.

The duties of the minister revolve around Finance conditions and concerns in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This includes advising the Chief Minister on matters of Finance. It strives to administer the department of Finance to carry out approved programs and make the public aware of the objectives of the department.
General elections were held in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday,25 July 2018 to elect the 51 members of 15th National Assembly from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) obtained a landslide victory in the province by winning 37 general seats and increased their margin of victory from 2013. The PTI also won 8 out of 10 reserved seats while the Pakistan Muslim League (N) (PML-N) and Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) won 1 reserved seat each.
