Shilanabad (Persian : شيلان اباد‎, also Romanized as Shīlānābād)^[1] is a village in Akhtachi-ye Gharbi Rural District, in the Central District of Mahabad County, West Azerbaijan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 161, in 34 families.^[2]

Persian, also known by its endonym Farsi, is one of the Western Iranian languages within the Indo-Iranian branch of the Indo-European language family. It is primarily spoken in Iran, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and some other regions which historically were Persianate societies and considered part of Greater Iran. It is written right to left in the Persian alphabet, a modified variant of the Arabic script, which itself evolved from the Aramaic alphabet.

Akhtachi-ye Gharbi Rural District is a rural district (dehestan) in the Central District of Mahabad County, West Azerbaijan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 7,899, in 1,452 families. The rural district has 38 villages.
