Shin Kalay is a village in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, in the Nad Ali District. It is inhabited by a Pashtun population of 11,000 and adheres to Sharia Islamic law. The village has recently accomplished high feats in education. Given its political background and ultra-conservative placement, advances in the education of boys and girls is a feat recognized and published by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA).

Green Village Schools (GVS), an Oregon-based non-profit organization, has worked over the past fourteen years to construct the most modern educational facility ever established in the region. The school, named after GVS Founder/President Mohammad Khan Kharoti, has a student enrollment of over 1,700 students including over 550 girls. As of 2014, the school has a total of 37 rooms. There are fourteen classrooms for boys and 10 classrooms for girls. There is a computer lab, storage room, bathroom facilities and small library for the students to use.

Lashkargāh, historically called Bost or Boost, is a city in southwestern Afghanistan and the capital of Helmand Province. It is located in Lashkargah District, where the Arghandab River merges into the Helmand River. The city has a population of 201,546 as of 2006. Lashkargah is linked by major roads with Kandahar to the east, Zaranj on the border with Iran to the west, and Farah and Herat to the north-west. It is mostly very arid and desolate. However, farming does exist around the Helmand and Arghandab rivers. Bost Airport is located on the east bank of the Helmand River, five miles north of the junction of the Helmand and Arghandab rivers. Because of the trading hubs, it is Afghanistan's second largest city in size, after Kabul and before Kandahar.

Nad Ali or Nad-e Ali is a district in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. Marja is an unincorporated agricultural district in Nad Ali. The area is irrigated by the Helmand and Arghandab Valley Authority (HAVA). A small town of the same name lies 11 km to the west of the Helmand River, at the coordinates shown at the top of the page. The town of Nad-e Ali was built in 1954 as part of the HAVA irrigation project, and was settled by 3,000 predominantly Pashtun families who were given newly arable land.

Kuchlak, also Kuchlagh, sometimes mistakenly referred to as Kachlak is a town near Quetta, in the province of Balochistan, Pakistan. It is governed by a union council in Chiltan Town, Quetta. Kuchlak is home to Halaqa Number 61, one of the largest halaqas in Quetta. Kuchlak is well known for summer fruits such as apples and peaches; however, soil aridity is a problem.
