Shuaib Afolabi Salisu is a Nigerian senator for Ogun Central constituency of Ogun State since 2023. [1] He previously served as the Chief of staff to Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun state from 2019 to 2023. [2] [3]
Salisu was elected to the National Senate for the Ogun West constituency in 2023,pulling a total of 96,759 votes to defeat his closest rival,Olumide Aderinokun of the People's Democratic Party (PDP),who pulled 52,440 votes. [4] Since 2023,he has been the Chairman of the Senate Committee on ICT &Cyber Security and Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Publicity. [5]

He previously represented the same constituency from 2007 to 2011 under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),running for re-election on the Labour Party ticket in the 2011 elections,he polled only 8,762 votes. He first served as an elected senator for Ogun Central district of Ogun State,Nigeria from June 2003 to June 2007,and reelected in 2019. After an unsuccessful bid for governor of Ogun State in April 2007,he was elected governor of the state on the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) platform in 2011. He contested again for a second term as governor under the All Progressives Congress and after winning the election,was sworn into office on 29 May 2015.
