History

Nikolay Shustov  [ ru ], a 40-year-old merchant, started the company in 1863 with a small liquor distillery, based in the former farriery building on Maroseyka Street  [ ru ] in Moscow.

The Erivan Governorate was a province (guberniya) of the Caucasus Viceroyalty of the Russian Empire, with its centеr in Erivan.
