Sittisax is a genus of spiders in the family Salticidae (jumping spiders). [1]
Sittisax is one of a number of genera that were split off from the broadly defined genus Sitticus (now Attulus ) by Jerzy Prószyński in 2016 and 2017. Sittisax was erected in 2017, with the type species Euophrys saxicola . [1] The generic name is derived from the first parts of the generic and specific names of Sitticus saxicola, the name used for the type species before transfer to Sittisax. [2]
As of August 2020 [update] , the World Spider Catalog accepted the following species: [1]
Attulus is a genus of jumping spiders that was first described by Eugène Louis Simon in 1889. The name is a diminutive form of a common prefix for salticid genera, -attus.
Epeus is a genus of the spider family Salticidae. They are often found on broad-leaved plants or shrubs of rain forest, or in gardens of Southeast Asia.
Ogdenia is a monotypic genus of jumping spiders containing the single species, Ogdenia mutilla. It was first described by George Peckham in 1907, and is only found on Borneo.
Pancorius is a genus of Asian jumping spiders that was first described by Eugène Louis Simon in 1902. They are similar to Hyllus.
Pristobaeus is a genus of jumping spiders that was first described by Eugène Louis Simon in 1902.
Pseudicius is a genus of the jumping spiders first described by Eugène Simon in 1885. The name is combined of Greek pseudo "false" and the salticid genus name Icius. The small genus Wesolowskana should possibly be included in this genus. There is some dispute whether Afraflacilla is a distinct genus or should be included in Pseudicius. Festucula and Marchena are other close relatives, these genera form a monophyletic group.
Pystira is a genus of spiders in the jumping spider family Salticidae.
Rhene is a spider genus of the family Salticidae.
Vailimia is a genus of Asian jumping spiders. The type species was described in 1907 from a single male about 6 millimetres (0.24 in) long. It was originally thought to be close to Harmochirus, but the male pedipalp, chelicera, and cephalothorax drawn by Proszynski in 1984, and information gained from later collected specimens indicates otherwise. Subsequently, five more species have been identified. It may be a synonym for Pancorius.
Zenodorus is a genus of the jumping spiders distributed from the Moluccas to Australia, including several islands of the Pacific. It was once considered a junior synonym of Omoedus, but this was later rejected by Jerzy Prószyński in 2017. At least one species, Z. orbiculatus, specializes on hunting ants.
Euophryini is a tribe of jumping spiders. It has also been treated as the subfamily Euophryinae.
Attulus saltator is a species of jumping spider, from the Sitticinae subfamily. It was first described by Frederick Octavius Pickard-Cambridge in 1868 and has a Palearctic distribution, including Great Britain.
Metaphidippus pernix is a species of spider in the Salticidae family found in Guatemala.
Emertonius is a genus of spiders in the jumping spider family Salticidae.
Hermosa is a genus of spiders in the family Salticidae. It was first described in 1892 by George and Elizabeth Peckham. As of 2019, it contains 7 species.
Attulus penicilloides is a jumping spider species that lives in North Korea. The female was first described by Wanda Wesołowska in 1993 and named Sitticus penicilloides in the genus Sitticus but was moved to the genus Attulus in 2017.
Habronattus mexicanus is a jumping spider species in the genus Habronattus. It is the type species of that genus.
Spadera is a genus of jumping spiders containing the single species, Spadera unica. It was first described by George and Elizabeth Peckham in 1894, and has only been found in Madagascar.
The Sitticini are a tribe of spiders in the family Salticidae. The tribe has been divided into two subtribes, Aillutticina, with five Neotropical genera, and Sitticina, with five genera from Eurasia and the Americas. One genus is unplaced within the tribe. The taxonomy of the tribe has been subject to considerable uncertainty. It was clarified in 2020.
