Smith's Ferry was a ferry near Reedley, California. The ferry was usable year-round and was preferred by customers over Pool's Ferry because it had better services and a superior ferry boat. An 11-room hotel was also located at the site. [1] It was located at the southwest edge of Reedley. [2] It was founded by James Smith in 1855 and disestablished in 1874. [2]

The Butterfield Overland Mail in Indian Territory was part of the overall Butterfield Overland Mail service (1857–1861) created by Congress March 3, 1857. The route crossed Indian Territory from Colbert's Ferry to Fort Smith, Arkansas which was the Center for the Overland Mail's' 7th Division. Fort Smith was also the junction point of the south bound coaches with the Memphis mail and its passengers. From Fort Smith the 7th Division route crossed the Poteau River into Indian Territory into the Choctaw Nation at Skullyville and left the Chickasaw Nation at Colbert's Ferry into Texas. There were 12 stage stations in Indian Territory, located from 13 to 19 miles (31 km) apart. The total length of the route across the territory was approximately 197 miles (317 km). The Butterfield route met with the Texas Road near Geary's Station and followed it southward to the Red River.

Reedley High School was established in 1918 as the first public high school in Reedley, California, and in the Kings Canyon Unified School District. It boasts one of the largest marching bands on the West Coast. Every year, Reedley High hosts a CMEA Music Festival.

Silas Bartsch was an American school administrator who acted as a superintendent in Reedley, California. He was first superintendent of the Kings Canyon Unified School District. Bartsch was superintendent for five years, then left to begin a career at then Fresno Pacific University.

Minkler is a census-designated place in eastern Fresno County, California. It is located on Highway 180, 2.25 miles (3.6 km) east-southeast of Centerville and 7.6 miles north of Reedley at an elevation of 397 feet. It has a population of 1,003 people. The town is named for Charles O. Minkler, a local farmer. The current mayor of Minkler is Wyatt Barnett.

The Stockton–Los Angeles Road, also known as the Millerton Road, Stockton–Mariposa Road, Stockton–Fort Miller Road or the Stockton–Visalia Road, was established about 1853 following the discovery of gold on the Kern River in Old Tulare County. <i>Mid Valley Times</i> weekly newspaper in the Central Valley of California

The Mid Valley Times is a weekly newspaper, published on Thursdays, serving Reedley, Dinuba, Sanger, and surrounding communities in Fresno County and Tulare County, California. It was known as the Reedley Exponent until July, 2019, when it merged with the Dinuba Sentinel and the Sanger Herald. At the time of the merger, the Herald was the oldest business in Sanger. The Sanger Herald was founded in 1889, the Reedley Exponent was founded in 1891. It has a current circulation of 3,400 copies and it is edited by Jon Earnest.
